Actor Park Geun-hyung (85) reported on the condition of his colleague Lee Soon-jae (90), who has suspended activities due to health deterioration.
On the afternoon of the 19th, Park Geun-hyung cautiously shared news about Lee Soon-jae during a press conference for the play 'Waiting for Godot' at YES24 Stage in Jongno, Seoul.
Lee Soon-jae appeared in the premiere of this play last year but stepped down midway due to health issues.
Park Geun-hyung said, 'We tried to visit him several times, but I heard he was quite reluctant, so we couldn't meet him directly,' and expressed regret, stating, 'I've been receiving updates through other acquaintances, but it doesn't seem like a good situation.'
However, Lee Soon-jae's side denied rumors of health problems. A representative from Lee Soon-jae's agency stated, 'The professor is receiving rehabilitation treatment in the hospital due to weakness in his legs, but there are no other health issues, and he is currently focused on rehabilitation treatment.'
He added, 'Being an actor, it's difficult to show that kind of appearance to the public, so he declined visitors,' and stated, 'Until he completes rehabilitation, we plan not to allow anyone except family to visit.'
Last year, as he approached 90, Lee Soon-jae was actively involved, receiving an acting award through the KBS2 Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Barking' and stepping down from the play in October due to health deterioration.
He also did not attend the 37th Korean PD Awards held in April. The representative who accepted the award on his behalf said, 'The professor was unable to attend due to discomfort.'
