'Twelve' Seo In-guk said he learned parkour action specifically for the role.
On the morning of the 20th, a production presentation for KBS2's new Saturday-Sunday mini-series 'Twelve' took place at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. The lead actors Ma Dong-seok, Park Hyun-sik, Seo In-guk, Lee Joo-bin, Ko Gyu-pil, Kang Mina, Sung Yoo-bin, Ahn Ji-hye, Regina Ray, director Kang Dae-kyu, and director Han Yoon-sun attended.
Inspired by the 12 zodiac deities of Tongyang, the series 'Twelve' (directed by Kang Dae-kyu and Han Yoon-sun, planned and produced by STUDIO X+U, produced by Contents Z, Big Punch Pictures, and Nova Film, co-produced by The Contents ON and Monster Union) depicts a battle where 12 angels living in human form fight against evil forces to safeguard humanity.
'Twelve' is expected to captivate audiences not only in Korea but globally with its attractive worldview based on the folklore of the 12 zodiac deities of Tongyang and its storytelling that combines universal themes that anyone can relate to and enjoy with fantasy elements. The casting, including Ma Dong-seok, Park Hyun-sik, Seo In-guk, Sung Dong-il, Lee Joo-bin, Ko Gyu-pil, Kang Mina, Sung Yoo-bin, Ahn Ji-hye, and Regina Ray, boasts the highest synchronization rate. The diverse actions capturing the individuality and charm of each zodiac hero, along with perfect teamwork, is drawing attention as a must-watch series this summer, promising a refreshing and thrilling visual experience.
Regarding his participation, Seo In-guk noted, "It was significant to be able to work on the same project as my brother Ma Dong-seok after a long time since OCN's '38 Task Force,'" adding, "I found it intriguing that an action piece is based on the 12 zodiac deities. The characters are animal-shaped, which I found refreshing as it is something rare to see."
Seo In-guk said he learned parkour action, stating, "Each actor has a designated animal character, and I wanted to showcase action that reflects that animal and character's form. I went to a parkour action team for training, though I didn't learn much. I discussed reference videos with the drama action team and wanted to create unique actions specific to the monkey character. After that, I practiced the parkour actions they devised. Usually, parkour action is fresh and is used effectively during chases; however, in our work, it's used more during fights, as we needed to deal with evil forces. I aimed to make the most of the surrounding terrain and objects."
Meanwhile, 'Twelve' will premiere on the 23rd at 9:20 p.m. and will meet global audiences through Disney+.
