Legendary singer Nam Jin of Korea's music scene joins the massive trot audition program MBN "Legend of the Unknown - The Hierarchical War of Trot Men" (hereafter "Legend of the Unknown") as a legendary figure to discover raw talent.
On the 20th, MBN announced that Nam Jin has recently confirmed his participation in "Legend of the Unknown." According to the production team, Nam Jin expressed, "I also had a period of being unknown. I want to find raw talent that desperately needs the stage," and sympathized with the idea that "Legend of the Unknown" grants opportunities to unknown participants. He decided to participate to fulfill his responsibility as a senior in helping the birth of new legends.
Previously, Nam Jin served as a judge in audition programs such as "Miss Trot," "Mr. Trot," "Burning Trotman," and "King of Singers." He gained the trust of the public and participants with his unique warm tone, delivering kind yet sharp evaluations.
Nam Jin's choice to select "Legend of the Unknown," instead of the programs he previously appeared in, is interpreted as his commitment as a senior to take responsibility for discovering unknown talent and his determination to be part of the future of trot.
Now celebrating his 60th anniversary since debut, Nam Jin has maintained his position at the top for 61 years. He debuted in 1965 with "Seoul Playboy." He later received the Best New Artist award from MBC for his song "Heartbreaking" and was crowned Best Singer for three consecutive years from 1971 to 1973, forming the first fan base in Korea. He continues to actively perform and serves as an icon in Korea's music scene, providing a model for younger generations.
Nam Jin's songs continue to be loved across generations and are particularly recognized for producing memorable stages in audition programs. Jeong Dong-won noted Nam Jin as a role model in "Mr. Trot" and perfectly delivered "Excellence" to gain acknowledgment of his skills.
