Kei is returning to the stage as 'Amane Misa' in the musical 'Death Note' (producer Shin Chun-soo, produced by OD Company) at the D Cube Arts Center in Guro-gu, Seoul, opening on Oct. 14.
The musical 'Death Note' premiered in Korea in 2015, achieving a sold-out record at every performance and receiving great love, and was renewed with a new production in 2022, leading to a sold-out encore in 2023, achieving overwhelming success both critically and commercially.
'Death Note' recently confirmed its opening in October with the announcement of a new casting, and Kei will take the stage as 'Amane Misa', an idol singer who passionately loves 'Light Yagami'. Kei appeared in 'Death Note' in 2022 in the same role and received acclaim for perfectly embodying the character of 'Amane Misa'.
Kei said, "It is an honor and I am grateful to greet everyone again as 'Misa', and I will work hard to meet you with a more grown-up appearance. I ask for your interest and support," expressing her feelings about returning to 'Death Note' after three years.
The production company OD Company said, "Kei perfectly embodied the character when she appeared in 'Death Note' in 2022, and based on the acting skills she has developed through various works, she will portray the character's charm even more three-dimensionally and once again capture the hearts of the audience." Since her outstanding performance in 'Death Note' in 2022, Kei has gained recognition for her acting and singing skills by consecutively appearing in major musicals such as 'Your Lie in April' and 'Notre-Dame de Paris'.
The musical 'Death Note', adapted from the Japanese manga of the same name, portrays the intense battle of wits between genius high school student 'Light' who acquires the Shinigami's notebook and seeks to punish the evils of society to realize justice, and the legendary detective 'L' pursuing him.
The roles of 'Light Yagami', the owner of a brilliant mind, in the musical 'Death Note' have been cast to Jo Hyung-kyun, Kim Min-seok, and Lim Gyu-hyung, while the world's greatest detective 'L', who pierces through the essence of incidents with his exceptional deductive skills while hiding his identity, has been cast to Kim Sung-kyu, Sandul, and Tang Jun-sang. The role of the Shinigami 'Rem' has been given to Lee Young-mi and Jang Eun-a, and the Shinigami 'Ryuk' will be portrayed by Yang Seung-ri and Lim Jeong-mo. In the role of 'Amane Misa', Kei will be joined by Choi Seo-yeon.
Meanwhile, Kei is intensively starting her rehearsal for the musical 'Death Note', which will begin preview performances on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and will run at the D Cube Arts Center until May 10, 2026.
