"Twelve" star Ma Dong-seok mentioned the action scenes of his new project.
On the morning of the 20th, a press conference for the KBS2 new weekend mini-series "Twelve" was held at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by lead actors Ma Dong-seok, Park Hyung-sik, Seo In-guk, Lee Joo-bin, Ko Kyu-pil, Kang Mi-na, Seong Yu-bin, Ahn Ji-hye, Regina Leigh, director Kang Dae-kyu, and director Han Yoon-seon.
The series "Twelve" (directors Kang Dae-kyu and Han Yoon-seon, planned and produced by STUDIO X+U, produced by Contentsji, Big Punch Pictures, and Nova Film, co-produced by The Contents ON and Monster Union), inspired by the 12 deities of Tongyang, depicts a battle between 12 angels living in human form to protect humanity against the forces of evil.
"Twelve" is expected to captivate viewers not only in Korea but also around the world with its attractive world view based on the folklore of the 12 deities of Tongyang, combined with fantasy elements and universal themes that anyone can relate to and enjoy. Additionally, the casting of Ma Dong-seok, Park Hyung-sik, Seo In-guk, Seong Dong-il, Lee Joo-bin, Ko Kyu-pil, Kang Mi-na, Seong Yu-bin, Ahn Ji-hye, and Regina Leigh boasts the best synchrony. The series is drawing attention as a must-watch this summer with its colorful action that fully captures each hero's personality and charm, along with perfect team play providing refreshing and thrilling performances.
This project started with Ma Dong-seok's planning, stating that "it seems similar to think of items that many people find interesting. I was also suggested a project related to the 12 deities and had my own ideas. Then, I decided to create a series inspired by the 12 deities of Tongyang while sharing ideas by writing together with the director from early on." He noted, "We started with the intention of creating an action hero story about 12 angels living in human form who fight against the forces of evil to protect humanity."
He continued, "I've wanted to do a hero story that embodies a Tongyang color for a long time. I thought that since the 12 deities are used in various Asian countries, they contain Korean charm too, making them a somewhat original material. Based on this, I prepared the idea hoping that if we create superheroes, they might resonate globally while being Korean, offering fresh fun."
Ma Dong-seok portrayed Taesan, leading the 8-angel team with a heavy presence and leadership. His action and costume are reminiscent of the might of a tiger.
Ma Dong-seok mentioned, "Tigers naturally use their front paws well, and I thought my boxing action would match well with that. I created the action based on that characteristic," adding, "We also decided to try outfits matching each animal. I wore a leopard pattern that anyone could recognize instantly. I heard the power of a tiger's front paw is tremendous. I incorporated that into the punching action."
Meanwhile, "Twelve" will premiere at 9:20 p.m. on the 23rd and will meet global viewers through Disney+.
