ENA 'Salon de Dol: You Really Talk a Lot' director Lee Taekyung conveyed his affectionate story about the cast along with the program's planning intent.
ENA entertainment 'Salon de Dol: You Really Talk a Lot (directed by Lee Taekyung, written by Jo Mihyun, produced by TEO)' is a talk show where idol seniors and juniors gather to engage in heated discussions over trivial debate topics, and is a version that expands the universe of TEO's popular content 'Salon Drip'. With Key and Lee Changsub serving as co-MCs, Hyoyeon joined as a guest MC through Episode 4, showcasing fantastic talk chemistry. Starting from Episode 5, various idol guests, including MZ representative icon Leejung and Jeon Somi, will appear, promising upgraded fun.
Lee Taekyung, the director of 'Salon de Dol', initially shared about the background of planning the program by saying, "It was an event that started from a really trivial conversation." After visiting the recording site of his previous show 'Amazing Saturday', he got the idea from chatting with SHINee's Key (Kim Kibum). He further mentioned, "At that time, Kibum said, 'I just can't understand people who buy electronic products and don't read the manuals,' which impressed me, and I thought of a talk content where people with different thoughts about trivial everyday topics could gather and talk," revealing behind-the-scenes insights that captured attention.
The combination of MCs Key and Lee Changsub is driving the program's buzz and adding fun. Director Lee Taekyung noted, "While thinking about a co-MC to work with Kibum, I recalled my close friend Lee Changsub from the military band," stating, "Since it's content where people talk with different perspectives, I thought it would be a good fit to have someone with a different character from Kibum." Additionally, both MCs being senior idols made it easy to develop the format with junior idols. He expressed gratitude for Key and Lee Changsub, saying, "I worried that the idols might feel shy, but both MCs broke my prejudice by saying, 'The kids these days aren't like that. Don't worry,' which gave me the confidence to begin."
Director Lee Taekyung also expressed gratitude for Hyoyeon's strong presence up to Episode 4. He praised her, saying, "I've always thought she brings great energy and excellent entertainment value, no matter which program she appears on, consistently exceeding expectations." Regarding the guests planned to appear, he remarked, "I hope it becomes a space where idols from past generations to those actively working now can come freely, enjoy discussing the topics we've prepared, and leave. In the future, I want to try a quirky concept like the idol of the OO world," raising expectations for intergenerational combinations.
The subtitle 'You Really Talk a Lot' enhances the overall atmosphere of 'Salon de Dol', making it intriguing. The director shared, regarding the lively filming atmosphere, "We had fun questions prepared, but I felt anxious every time the guests didn't finish talking." He noted, "What stood out was the change in participants; comparing the lively morning they came in to the end, it always ends up being funny. When I asked if they were sleepy as their eyes were closing and their posture was collapsing, they insisted they weren't," revealing behind-the-scenes humor.
'Salon de Dol', which deals with trivial yet interesting debate topics, brings as much fun in meeting times as in entertainment. Director Lee Taekyung explained, "During meetings, each person brings up experiences of seeing incomprehensible actions somewhere or topics they argued with their ex-partners. When it involves real experiences, the heat intensifies," adding that they also reference classic topics that are sharply divided in the community.
Director Lee Taekyung stated, "By gathering interesting points I felt directing various entertainment shows before, I completed 'Salon de Dol's unique charm," revealing the final viewing point. He concluded, "I hope this serves as meaningful reference on topics everyone might have pondered at least once, and in the future, I plan to continue tackling such topics in a fun way," urging interest and anticipation for the 5th episode.
'Salon de Dol' Episode 5 will air at 10 p.m. on the 22nd and will continue to meet viewers every Friday night.
