"Architectural travels with meaning" Jun Hyun-moo, Baekga, and Mimi visit Jeon Ji-hyun's house from the film "Assassination."
The special MBC cultural program for the 80th anniversary of liberation, airing on the 19th, titled "Architectural travels with meaning" (hereafter "Architectural travels"), depicts Jun Hyun-moo, Baekga from Koyote, and Mimi from Oh My Girl embarking on an architectural journey to Bukchon Hanok Village, established to protect the residences of Joseon people during the Japanese occupation.
Jun Hyun-moo, dispatched instead of architect Yoo Hyun-jun as "Mu Hyun-jun," diligently studies Hanok architecture. Among the traditional houses in Bukchon, where various eras of Hanok coexist, Jun Hyun-moo remarks, "This place could make your jaw drop in amazement," drawing attention to the fact that it was featured in the film "Assassination" as the home of Mitsuko (Jeon Ji-hyun), a daughter from a pro-Japanese family. Mimi, awed by the modern Hanok radiating an extraordinary presence from the gate, exclaims, "It smells of wealth," capturing interest in how magnificent it truly is.
Upon entering the Hanok's interior, the three begin to discover elements that retain the lifestyle of the upper class of that time. Mimi expresses surprise, saying, "Wow, they had this back then?" and observes, "The class is different," her eyes widening. Baekga is amazed by the unique spaces of the wealthy family Hanok, which are distinct from other Hanoks in Bukchon, while architect Yoo Hyun-jun explains, "That's the very symbol of wealth," stirring curiosity about why this house feels affluent.
Next, Jun Hyun-moo takes Baekga and Mimi to the trendiest Hanok in Bukchon. Selected as Seoul's outstanding Hanok in 2022, this spot generates admiration with its harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
Above all, Jun Hyun-moo displays an utterly exhausted look after the architectural tour with Baekga and Mimi, bringing laughter. He laments, "You'll see me aging in real time. It felt like I was taking care of one son and one daughter," humorously highlighting the demands of the space enthusiast, Mimi, whose pure enthusiasm for architecture makes one anticipate how wonderful the experience will be. The exploration of Bukchon Hanok Village, which turned into Jun Hyun-moo's architectural parenting journey, will be revealed on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on MBC's "Architectural travels with meaning."
