Kep1er has announced their comeback with a unique concept.
Kep1er is set to release their 7th mini album 'BUBBLE GUM' at 6 p.m. on the 19th and held a comeback interview with OSEN at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 14th.
Kep1er's 7th mini album 'BUBBLE GUM' is the new release after about 9 months since their sixth mini album 'TIPI-TAP' last year, showcasing the group's strengths in powerful performances and addictive voices, capturing their charm in the tracks.
A total of six tracks are included, featuring the title track 'BUBBLE GUM,' which is a house-based EDM pop dance song characterized by intense beats and impressive vocal range, presenting the unpredictable yet charismatic charm of Kep1er.
Notably, the song features strong yet cynical lyrics that seem to mock 'the uncomfortable gazes directed at me,' while the energetic vocals of Kep1er deliver another side of the group that has not been shown before.
On this day, Yujin remarked, "It has been 9 months since we last promoted with a Korean album. I hope that fans and the public will enjoy this album as much as we worked hard on it. I hope the chorus becomes a catchy song that lingers in people's minds."
The teaser that was released first conveyed a 'youthful boy' vibe. Regarding the concept, Chaehyun explained, "When we say 'bubble gum,' it could be perceived as cute, or it could be expected to have a refreshing feeling. If it swallows up lovable and sweet friends, it will burst. I hope you see us taking cuteness while maintaining confidence and sexy charisma."
Expectations are high for Kep1er's different appearance, which is a bit different from their existing concept. Regarding this, Dayeon said, "As we performed on various stages, we absorbed many concepts and gained experiences. When trying new concepts, confidence prevails over fear. I hope you expect us to show a confident yet sexy side."
Chaehyun also noted, "If we had attempted this before, it might have come off as immature. I thought it might not have suited us well," adding, "I think we have acquired maturity and sexiness, and I believe this is an appropriate period."
The title track 'BUBBLE GUM' is an EDM-based pop dance song. Were there any difficulties in preparing for it? Chaehyun revealed, "In fact, the EDM genre was something we first attempted with 'WADADA.' This time, we prepared with the thought of presenting EDM properly."
Recently, artists like Jeon So-mi and BLACKPINK have released new songs in the EDM genre, proving that EDM is hot in the current music scene. When asked what differences exist between the songs released previously and Kep1er's new song, Xiaoting said, "We don't seem to emphasize EDM. We show many cute and lovable aspects, emphasizing that we are fully mature. We aim to present a more mature version of Kep1er."
