In 'Lovers of Joseon,' actress Lim Do-hwa, formerly of the girl group AOA, first revealed the tearful wedding scene.
On the 18th, the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Lovers of Joseon' aired for the first time the wedding preparations and ceremony of Lim Do-hwa (Chan-mi), formerly of the girl group AOA.
On that day, Do-hwa met with the production team of 'Lovers of Joseon' along with her husband, Song Ui-hwan. Do-hwa mentioned that she had not yet held the wedding ceremony, but "we are already living together. We've been living together for about 6 months," introducing her husband. Born in 1996 and now 30 years old, Lim Do-hwa is 5 years younger than her husband, who was born in 1991. Do-hwa revealed her relationship with her husband, who was her 'church oppa,' saying, "We met at church."
Do-hwa shared, "I started going to church during a difficult time," noting that "my husband has been a source of support." After the effective disbandment of AOA, she faced tough times trying to establish herself as an actress. Her husband remarked, "At first, I thought there was some pretentiousness to her," feeling awkward, and added, "But she had actually been in the workforce for a long time." He also expressed surprise, saying, "She has a glamorous appearance but is very quiet. Her character is quite noble as well. I think I saw much deeper qualities in her."
Lim Do-hwa commented on the change from her past as the youngest member 'Chan-mi' of AOA, saying, "It's a name I changed two years ago. It seems that people need time to adjust. Even now, if they call me 'Chan-mi,' I just let it be. I hope they will eventually call me Do-hwa," she said with a smile.
She revealed, "At my last activity, I was a 12-year veteran idol. I debuted when I was in the first year of high school," which drew astonishment. When asked by the production team if she is in contact with the AOA members, she replied, "I keep in touch with all of them. I still contact the members I worked with until the end. I'm in touch with Ji-min, Hye-jeong, Seol-hyun, and Yuna."
Although AOA was a top idol group, unfortunate rumors of discord among members led to its effective disbandment. Nevertheless, Lim Do-hwa's current close-knit relationships, where they still keep in touch, evoke even more sympathy. Having experienced the rise and fall of the group, it was inevitable that there would be a significant gap between her activities as a popular girl group member and those as a new actress. However, Lim Do-hwa candidly stated, "I enjoy overcoming challenges. I seem to have a strong challenger mentality," adding, "I feel really happy to have places to go. I feel immense happiness in building things up one by one. It actually feels better to me."
On the day of the wedding, a special guest arrived among Lim Do-hwa's attendees — the members of AOA. Among them, Ji-min, the leader, was the first to arrive and took a photo with Lim Do-hwa in the bride's waiting room. Both Do-hwa and Ji-min became emotional as they looked at each other, with Do-hwa saying, "I feel like I'm going to cry seeing you," and she barely managed to send Ji-min away.
Ji-min left the bride's waiting room and greeted Lim Do-hwa's mother, who was at the head table. She warmly embraced Lim Do-hwa's mother, creating a family-like atmosphere. As a result, both ended up in tears. When Ji-min wiped away her tears, Lim Do-hwa's mother said, "How can you cry?" expressing her concern and shedding tears as well. Ji-min comforted her, saying, "Please don't cry, mother." Lim Do-hwa's mother responded, "Come eat before you go. Thank you," and warmly hugged Ji-min repeatedly.
During the wedding, the AOA members remained present. Ji-min, Seol-hyun, and Hye-jeong even applauded and smiled from the crowd while Lim Do-hwa's younger sister danced to AOA's hit song 'Heart Attack' as a congratulatory performance.
