Former UN group actor Choi Jung-won has been charged with stalking.
On the 19th, SBS reported that the Seoul Central Police Station charged Choi Jung-won with stalking on the 16th and requested emergency measures for the victim woman.
According to this, Choi Jung-won committed stalking acts, including going to the house of a woman he had known for some time while armed with a dangerous weapon. The police then charged Choi Jung-won and took safety measures for the victim woman.
Additionally, the police requested subsequent emergency measures for Choi Jung-won. The Seoul Central District Court approved the emergency measures for Choi Jung-won on the 18th, stating that "the matter is urgent and it is necessary to prevent the continuous and repeated acts of stalking."
Emergency measures prohibit the perpetrator from approaching the victim within 100 meters, as well as contacting them through electronic communication such as mobile phones. Violating this can result in imprisonment of up to one year or fines of up to 10 million won.
In addition, the police are said to be investigating the exact circumstances of the crime against Choi Jung-won.
Choi Jung-won is an actor who debuted in 2000 as part of the male duet group UN with Kim Jung-hoon. He has previously been embroiled in infidelity allegations involving a married acquaintance and faced 'homewrecker allegations.' The woman's husband, Mr. B, filed a lawsuit seeking 100 million won in damages against Choi Jung-won in December 2022. However, Choi Jung-won denied the related allegations and countersued Mr. B for defamation and threats.
