Actor Son Ye-jin confessed that she received harsh evaluations after practicing dance for a role.
On the morning of 19th, the production report for the film 'No Other Choice' took place at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. In attendance were director Park Chan-wook, lead actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won.
'No Other Choice' (directed by Park Chan-wook, distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Moho Film and CJ ENM Studios) tells the story of a company employee named Man-su (played by Lee Byung-hun) who, after being unexpectedly fired despite feeling that he had 'achieved it all' in life, prepares for his own battle to protect his wife (played by Son Ye-jin) and two children, and to maintain the home he worked hard to acquire. The film has been invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and has been selected as the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, while also officially invited to the 50th Toronto International Film Festival and the 63rd New York Film Festival, continuing to attract global attention.
After a hiatus due to her marriage to fellow actor Hyun Bin and the birth of her child, Son Ye-jin returns to the screen through 'No Other Choice' after seven years.
Son Ye-jin, who said she returned with the attitude of a newcomer, noted, "(There are dance scenes) I practiced a lot. I thought the director would show it a lot in the film, but he didn't," adding, "The more shocking thing was when the director said, 'I thought you'd do well since you practiced a lot, but you didn't.' I thought, 'How can he say that so openly?' and it made me laugh.
She continued, "I practiced for 2 to 3 months for that scene. But it was really shocking when the director said that so openly. I even watched the completed film, but all my dance scenes were edited out."
When asked if Son Ye-jin's dancing was that bad, director Park Chan-wook only laughed without answering, causing everyone around to burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, 'No Other Choice' is set to be released in September.
