Comedian Mi-ja revealed how she secretly saved 200 million won for her wedding.
On the 18th, actress Jeon Seong-ae and her daughter Mi-ja appeared on KBS2's 'Let's Live Together' to share their stories.
On that day, when Mi-ja asked, "Are you still doing YouTube?" she replied, "Yes. Now I have just over 610,000 subscribers," sharing her recent activities. When asked, "Do celebrities do that?" she explained, "No. It's just family only."
In response, Park Won-suk asked, "How many views did it get?" and Mi-ja replied, "It was over 6.7 million," adding, "My mom appeared in it. I drank a lot alone, and I uploaded that a lot. Then I got caught by my mom. That was 6.75 million. It became a big deal."
Upon hearing this, Jeon Seong-ae asked, "Did you make money from that?" and noted, "I don't talk about my income at all. I certainly didn't before getting married, and now that I am married, it's even more so."
Then, Park Won-suk brought up Mi-ja's story of saving 200 million won for her wedding despite her mom saying that it was tough without money, saying, "How come you didn't give money when your mom said it was hard?" Mi-ja shared, "I don't spend money. I really don't spend and even walk instead of taking the bus because I'm stingy about even 700 to 800 won. Even in elementary school, when I got New Year's money or allowance, my sibling would spend it all at the arcade, but I saved every single won. I barely managed to save that money for my wedding. There weren't many opportunities to earn, so I saved it, but if I gave that to the household when it was tough, all of it would go to interest, so it was difficult since it would just disappear like that."
In response, Jeon Seong-ae said, "You always told me you didn't have money. And you worked as a radio DJ for five years. You never mentioned how much your salary was back then. So I thought it was low, but later, when you got married, it turned out to be a huge amount."
Mi-ja said, "My monthly income was 400,000 won," and Jeon Seong-ae praised, "You saved all of that." Mi-ja explained, "That's right. I spent almost 80,000 won a month for living expenses. I did nothing. I didn't even buy food or take the bus," revealing the reason she could save 200 million won.
Jeon Seong-ae commented, "But don't you ever get a little curious about your income?" Mi-ja replied, "That's why I stopped my massages, right? But I've been curious for a while; my mom is really interested in how much I earn, and she's upset that I don't talk about it, but don't other families share that? How much everyone earns and such?"
Hye-eun, who heard this, shook her head and said, "I don't want to know or ask," while Park Won-suk also clarified, "I don't do that." Nonetheless, she added, "But the reason is that I had investments before. It's not that I want to withdraw, but it's like 'You also have to be human,'" which drew laughter.
Meanwhile, Mi-ja, the daughter of actors Jang Gwang and Jeon Seong-ae, married comedian Kim Tae-hyun in 2022.
