"No Other Choice" Son Ye-jin mentioned the changes she experienced after becoming a mother while acting.
On the morning of the 19th, a production briefing for the film "No Other Choice" took place at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. In attendance were director Park Chan-wook, lead actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Sung-won.
"No Other Choice" (directed by Park Chan-wook, distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Moho Film and CJ ENM Studios) depicts the story of Mansoo (played by Lee Byung-hun), a company employee who felt he had "achieved it all" and was satisfied with his life, but suddenly got fired. To protect his wife (played by Son Ye-jin) and two children, and to keep his hard-earned home, he prepares for his own battle toward re-employment. The film has been invited to compete in the institutional sector of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and has been selected as the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival. It is also an official selection of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival and the 63rd New York Film Festival, continuing to attract global attention.
Earlier, Son Ye-jin married actor Hyun Bin in 2022 and welcomed a son into her arms in November of the same year.
Son Ye-jin, who appears as a mother of two children, stated, "This is my first work since having a child, so I think that has helped. Before giving birth, I played many roles of mothers and ex-wives, but I thought, 'Oh! It's different! What I've experienced is incomparable to anything else.'"
She added, "My image with the child felt natural. The motherhood of a mother occupies an important part. It is a positive maternal role of wanting to take responsibility for the family and to play a warm mother. It was easy to immerse myself in that part."
Meanwhile, "No Other Choice" is set to be released in September.
