Actor Choi Jung-won, formerly of the group UN, has spoken out, claiming he has been wronged amid allegations of stalking.
According to police on the 19th, the Seoul Central Police Station has booked Choi Jung-won on charges of violating the law on punishment for stalking crimes and has sought emergency measures from the court, which were approved the day before.
Choi Jung-won is reportedly under suspicion of visiting the home of a woman he had been acquainted with while armed with a weapon. The police stated, "We are in the process of determining the precise circumstances of the incident."
The emergency measures sought by the police from the court order the stalker to stay 100 meters away from the victim's residence and prohibits access via telecommunications. Failure to comply may result in fines not exceeding 10 million won.
In this regard, Choi Jung-won expressed through a media outlet, "It is true that I was investigated by the police. However, there are parts that I find unjust."
Choi Jung-won claimed, "This incident occurred during the process of breaking up with my current girlfriend, but there is a misunderstanding. It is not true that I stalked her or visited her home with a weapon."
In particular, Choi Jung-won added, "I revealed everything through the police investigation."
Meanwhile, Choi Jung-won is an actor who debuted in the male duet group UN in 2000 with Kim Jung-hoon. Previously, he faced allegations of an affair with a married acquaintance, becoming embroiled in 'allegations of being a homewrecker.' Accordingly, the woman's husband, Mr. B, filed a lawsuit seeking 100 million won in damages against Choi Jung-won in December 2022. However, Choi Jung-won denied the related allegations and countersued Mr. B for defamation and intimidation.
