Actor Song Ha-yoon has filed an additional lawsuit against the original disseminator of the school violence allegations for defamation.
On the 18th, Song Ha-yoon's legal representative, the Law Firm Ji-eum, stated to OSEN regarding individual A, who originally disseminated the school violence allegations, "It is correct that we have filed a second lawsuit."
That afternoon, a media outlet reported that A had been sued again by Song Ha-yoon on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation) and obstruction of business by deception on the 22nd of last month.
The school violence allegations against Song Ha-yoon emerged in February of last year. At that time, Song Ha-yoon was receiving acclaim for her role as the villain Jeong Soo-min in the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Marry My Husband" (abbreviated as "MMH"). However, immediately after the conclusion of "MMH," individual A, who claimed to be a high school classmate of Song Ha-yoon, alleged school violence during their school years, causing controversy. In response, Song Ha-yoon asserted through her former agency that she had never met A and that the allegations were "not true." However, she was unable to overturn the criticism and effectively suspended her entertainment industry activities upon the expiration of her contract with her former agency.
About 1 year and 5 months later, on the 2nd of last month, Ji-eum stated that they had once again reiterated Song Ha-yoon's innocence and filed a lawsuit against A for defamation based on false facts. Nevertheless, A is residing in the United States and has reportedly been unresponsive to investigations. A has again alleged Song Ha-yoon's school violence claims in an interview with domestic media. In response, Ji-eum announced plans for an additional lawsuit against A, confirming that this is the second lawsuit being pursued.
Song Ha-yoon's side continues to emphasize that the claims regarding school violence are "not true" and maintains their intention to file a lawsuit against A. A has also stated plans to counter sue for defamation upon returning to Korea. Attention is focused on the truth that will be revealed in court.
