As the group CORTIS makes its official debut, they mentioned advice received from their senior group BTS.
On the afternoon of 18th, a debut showcase for CORTIS (CORTIS) from Big Hit Music was held at the Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Yongsan, Seoul.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Seonghyeon, Gunho) is a new boy group presented by Big Hit Music, known for producing boy groups like BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, after six years. Since TOMORROW X TOGETHER in 2019, global fans have been focusing on the launch of a newcomer by Big Hit Music.
The group name 'CORTIS' was created by irregularly taking six letters from 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES,' which means to think freely outside the standards and rules set by the world. The members aim to leave another footprint in the music industry with fresh appeal and differentiated sensibility, just like their team name.
When asked if there is pressure from having formidable seniors like BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, leader Martin expressed, "Having such impressive seniors makes us more responsible in our practice. We will show a good side to everyone."
Juhun stated, "It would be a lie to say there is no pressure, but I feel grateful to debut under the Big Hit label." He added, "In a way, it is rare for a rookie like us to be given overall album production authority by the company, so I feel thankful for that and will work harder to be a diligent CORTIS."
In response to the question about any advice received from seniors, Seonghyeon said, "Fortunately, we had the opportunity to meet our seniors from HYBE, BTS, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. I was really grateful for the support from the BTS seniors, who wished us well, and we had the chance to show our stage to TOMORROW X TOGETHER seniors. Their realistic feedback was very helpful."
When asked what specific advice was given, Seonghyeon replied, "They provided detailed feedback about changing our expression for each performance and about our facial expressions."
Additionally, Martin recalled, "I met the BTS seniors at J-Hope's concert. Among the advice they gave me was, 'Always appreciate the things you enjoy and don't take them for granted.' I have been very thankful for that advice."
Meanwhile, the title track 'What You Want' from CORTIS's debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES' will be released today (18th) at 6 p.m.
