"Aema" Lee Ha-Nee is expecting her second child, with a due date next week.
On the morning of the 18th, a production briefing for the Netflix series "Aema" took place at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were lead actors Lee Ha-Nee, Bang Hyo-Rin, Jin Sun-Kyu, Jo Hyun-Cheol, and director Lee Hae-Young.
"Aema" depicts the story of top star Hee-Ran (played by Lee Ha-Nee) and rookie actress Joo-Ae (played by Bang Hyo-Rin) bravely confronting the dark realities overshadowed by the glamorous spotlight surrounding the birth of adult films that swept Korea in the 1980s. It captures both the dazzling spotlight and the darker side of Chungmuro in the 1980s, delivering a thrilling experience as they each stand against the times in their own ways.
This is the first series directed by Lee Hae-Young, known for captivating audiences through a continuous stream of new stories and characters with a unique style, such as in "Drug King," "Phantom," and "Matonna, the Great." Lee Ha-Nee, embodying the looks and speech of a top actress from the 1980s, and Bang Hyo-Rin, showcasing the audacity of a rookie actress, alongside Jin Sun-Kyu, who creatively portrays the ambitions and desires of a producer, and Jo Hyun-Cheol, who intricately expresses the worries and frustrations of a rookie director, delivered remarkable performances.
Heavily pregnant Lee Ha-Nee, due in early August, attended the event to express her affection for the project. She did not step onto the photo line and instead appeared with security during the talk time, where they discussed the project in depth.
While answering questions that day, Lee Ha-Nee mentioned lines from the drama and casually added some profanity. At that moment, MC Park Kyung-Rim asked, "I understand the baby is due today or tomorrow; won't the baby hear that foul language?" eliciting laughter. Lee Ha-Nee responded, "Then I'll just say it in beep language," immediately correcting herself and adding humor.
Despite being heavily pregnant, Lee Ha-Nee expressed, "This is all new to me. I've given birth before, but they say having a second child is a bit fast. I can't really predict my condition." She continued, "Honestly, I've wanted to attend the briefing since the beginning, but I was worried that I might not be able to keep that promise, so I kept thinking, 'What should I do?' However, looking at my condition yesterday, it didn't seem like the baby would come today. (laughs) So I decided to attend. I have special affection for 'Aema' and wanted to at least greet everyone and introduce to viewers what kind of work 'Aema' is. Even though my belly is sticking out, I really wanted to come," she laughed.
She added, "My health is very good. Next week is the due date," and mentioned, "I'm a little concerned, but I'm managing to walk well, albeit a bit wobbly."
Meanwhile, "Aema" will be released on Netflix in over 190 countries at 4 p.m. on the 22nd.
