Singer Yoo Seung-jun (Steve Yoo) has revealed his family and announced his return to YouTube. Reactions to his comeback remain polarizing.
On the 17th, Yoo Seung-jun's YouTube channel released a video titled "Yoo Seung-jun's comeback? BREAKING NEWS! Yoo Seung Jun aka YSJ has returned?" Yoo Seung-jun said, "How have you been? It has been so long since I last greeted you. I plan to share small parts of my life with you and communicate through YouTube in the future."
The video also featured Yoo Seung-jun's family, which includes two sons and two daughters living in the U.S. He mentioned to his handsome son, who resembles him, "After surfing at Malibu Beach and Huntington Beach, I perform at night," and said, "Dad, buy us a house here." He also introduced his twin daughters, who resemble Disney's "Moana" character, and his wife, who has been by his side since their dating days, sharing their family life together.
Yoo Seung-jun expressed his candid feelings in the video. He said, "How can you judge me when you don't even know me? Who are you to make a judgment? Have you kept every promise you made?" revealing his frustration at the social perception surrounding him. After saying this, he laughed awkwardly.
In particular, Yoo Seung-jun shared his aspirations, saying, "I started with nothing and have come this far. Looking back, I wonder if I've really lost anything. Just surviving this long is a miracle. I can't give up on my dreams and passion because they're still burning. Life is too short."
Yoo Seung-jun debuted as a singer in 1997 but lost his South Korean nationality after acquiring U.S. citizenship while abroad for a performance in 2002, which led to controversy over avoiding military service. He has been banned from entering South Korea for 23 years and, despite winning two lawsuits to overturn visa denials, is currently undergoing a third lawsuit.
Recently, some fans represented Yoo Seung-jun by requesting a special pardon from President Lee Jae-myung for Liberation Day. However, Yoo Seung-jun clarified, "I have never wanted a pardon, and I don't even know the source of the statement submitted. I wanted to enter the country for my honor's restoration. I feel very regrettable to be involved in such issues."
Yoo Seung-jun's return to YouTube suggests a communication with fans, including family revelations and candid emotional expressions. However, netizens are expressing mixed reactions, saying things like, "You need to follow the law even if you don't keep promises," "There is weight to mistakes," "He looks young. The king of self-management," and "I've waited a long time."
