Yoon Dujun, a member of the group Highlight and an actor, found a happy ending in "The Pet Custody War."
Yoon Dujun played the lead role of Kim Do-young in the first work "The Pet Custody War" of the cable channel tvN x TVING short drama curation "O'PENing (Opening) 2025," which aired on the 17th.
"The Pet Custody War" is a romance about a couple, Kim Do-young and Lee Yoo-jin (played by Kim Seul-gi), who are contemplating divorce and fighting over the custody of the cat "Nori" that they raised together.
Kim Do-young and Lee Yoo-jin, who decided to get divorced, seemed to be reaching an agreement to divide their assets. However, both of them could not give up their beloved cat Nori and entered into a battle over "pet custody."
The meticulous and perfectionist Do-young and the easygoing Yoo-jin divided up their responsibilities in caring for Nori according to their contrasting personalities. Do-young took on the responsibility of Nori's vaccinations and neutering surgery in place of Yoo-jin, who often had late nights and business trips, and even entertained Nori with a drone equipped with AI tailored for cats.
As the dispute over "pet custody" intensified, they resorted to crossing the line with lies to win over Nori. Yoo-jin lied to Do-young, claiming that Nori had left the house. Believing this, Do-young desperately searched for Nori but felt betrayed when he found Nori at his brother-in-law's house.
Later, when Nori truly went missing, Do-young and Yoo-jin set out together with a shared determination to find Nori. Nori had become an irreplaceable family member for both of them, who had suffered the pain of losing their inheritance. The cat they were searching for had returned home on its own, and seeing Yoo-jin in distress, Do-young ultimately decided to give up Nori.
On the verge of divorce, Do-young felt confused as he thought of Yoo-jin, who had endured infertility treatment. He expressed, "Is it right to get divorced with such feelings? I still think this isn't the end," and candidly admitted, "I don't want to break up with you." Do-young had also been hiding his cat allergy, which required a year of hospital treatment, from Yoo-jin.
After realizing each other's sacrifices and true feelings too late, they promised a future together instead of divorce. Do-young said, "We can be happy enough with just the two of us. What more do we need?" and announced their happy ending.
Through this "The Pet Custody War," Yoon Dujun returned to the small screen with a captivating and multidimensional character, three years after appearing in the ENA drama "The Last Recipe" aired in 2022. He expressed a story of healing that becomes stronger through pain and crisis with a delicate and deeply emotional narrative, delivering laughter and empathy to viewers.
