Actress Lim Se-mi is enriching the narrative of 'The Winning Try'.
Lim Se-mi is playing the role of a playing coach for the archery team at Hanyang High School and the ex-girlfriend of Joo Ga-ram (played by Yoon Kye-sang) in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try' (written by Lim Jin-ah, directed by Jang Young-seok, hereafter 'The Winning Try'). Despite her late age, she is a bold character who does not back down from the bullying of Jeon Nak-kyun (played by Lee Sung-wook), who says she "does not focus on coaching duties" while striving to become a national representative by balancing coaching and practice. However, she shows a wavering demeanor during the selection trials due to threats of being buried in the archery community, evoking sympathy.
Meanwhile, in the 7th episode, a scene was depicted where Ga-ram's severe myasthenia gravis and the reason for his disappearance three years ago were revealed to Lee Ji. In the midst of that shock, Lee Ji could not turn her back on Ga-ram, who is genuinely passionate about the rugby team, and volunteered to be a shield. To hide Ga-ram's illness, she revealed that she had been 'ips'. Ultimately, although she was stripped of her coaching position, Lee Ji's determination to continue practicing as a player despite the ban on entering the archery department moved the hearts of viewers.
Through her role as Baek Ji, Lim Se-mi has received praise for capturing the weight of the drama with delicate emotional performances from the first episode to the latter parts of 'The Winning Try'. From her anger at her ex-boyfriend who suddenly left and then returned to her strong determination not to give up on her dreams, Lim Se-mi's well-paced acting has resonated with the audience.
In particular, upon learning Ga-ram's secret in the 7th episode, she compellingly expressed both disbelief and anger, candidly revealing her potentially dangerous choice of being 'ips' to protect Ga-ram, effectively portraying Lee Ji's honest and straightforward character.
Expectations are focused on Lim Se-mi, who is leading 'The Winning Try' with her diverse performances, for her future achievements in the remaining episodes.
Meanwhile, 'The Winning Try', featuring Lim Se-mi, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
