The candid stories of four historical drama actors, aired on MBN 'Let's Go Go', captivated viewers.
In the 7th episode of season 5, which aired on the 16th, the four actors, including the three king specialists Kim Seung-soo, Lee Min-woo, and Jo Hyun-jae, along with Jung Eun-pyo, who is beloved for his role as an extra character in historical dramas, grants discussed various stories such as behind-the-scenes of historical drama filming, love lives, and hidden feelings, capturing attention.
MC Ahn Jung-hwan and Hong Hyun-hee, fitting the royal special, asked the actors while sitting at a high table, "I've heard that historical dramas are the hardest among dramas; is that true?" In response, Jo Hyun-jae said, "I learned how to ride a horse while filming. They put me on the horse and whipped it, and the horse ran at full speed. That's how I learned to ride a horse. We filmed it very dangerously," revealing a risky story where he rode at full speed without a stunt double, surprising everyone. Additionally, Kim Seung-soo shared, "The palanquin is heavy. But when someone like me rides, it's even heavier. Actors have to maintain a face that doesn't show the weight, but since it's so hard, some people even fart," sharing a humorous anecdote.
The MCs and actors then invited a fortune teller to hear about their faces. The fortune teller, who appeared with a unique aura, addressed the question, "Is there anyone among us who is destined to be a king?" saying, "Kim Seung-soo has blueish lips close to purple. The borders of his lips have become ambiguous compared to the past; this means he has transcended all sexual and material desires," and added, "He's like a lifeless scarecrow; if this were the Joseon period, he'd be a leader of beggars," which drew laughter.
The fortune teller also commented on Jo Hyun-jae, saying, "His eyes are like those of a mandarin duck. He often brushes things over, thinking what's good is good, but from his wife's perspective, it can be frustrating. However, starting this year, he's been in a great luck phase. Now, he should row hard when the tides come in. There's a glow in his cheekbone," which made Kim Seung-soo envious as the fortune teller remarked, "If he were born in the Joseon Dynasty, he would be a painter or a literary figure."
The fortune teller remarked on Lee Min-woo, "He has all the luck concentrated in his youth. He should partially cover his forehead with hair," and added, "His features are clear and seem to come from a moral textbook. He would fit in well during the Joseon Dynasty," then assessed, "He has the most king-like features." Furthermore, regarding Jung Eun-pyo, he commented, "He scores 95 points on his facial features, indicating a good sense of balance. He would probably hold a position equivalent to a revered prime minister or deputy prime minister."
Lastly, when it came to the MCs, the fortune teller quipped, "Hong Hyun-hee is wasting all her luck with excessive image making. If she were born in the Joseon period, she would be a tavern owner," and for Ahn Jung-hwan, he remarked, "You were famous as a flower boy, but aesthetically speaking, it's not good. However, after marriage, his appearance and fate changed," adding, "If we talk about his historical status in the Joseon Dynasty, he would be a constable," which brought laughter.
The MCs and actors then headed to Jo Hyun-jae's house located in Seongdong District. While discussing children's education, Jo Hyun-jae mentioned that he leaves it entirely to his wife, while Jung Eun-pyo said he was hardly involved. He continued, "I trained my children to learn independently until they graduated elementary school and didn't intervene from middle school onwards," recounting, "When they were in elementary school, there was a lot of homework piled up, so after finishing their daily tasks, I'd say they could play freely. Unexpectedly, the children started waking up at 6 a.m. to study," illustrating the naturally developing situation that trained them to study on their own, which surprised everyone. Additionally, Jo Hyun-jae revealed he was part of a four-member idol group with actor Kim Kang-woo, showcasing their album jacket while passionately singing to commemorate their revived popularity.
After touring the house, while looking at the lavishly set table for a meal, Kim Seung-soo responded to the MC's question, "Isn't it a long time since you've had a surasang?" saying, "It's been a while since I filmed a historical drama, so it's been ages since I've had a surasang." He further explained, "There's something that ordinary people don't know when filming banquet scenes. The banquet food is prepared from the morning, and in the summer, when you open the lid of the food that was covered before filming, it all smells sour and is inedible. A stench fills the air," surprising the MCs. Jo Hyun-jae also mentioned, "We sometimes use a paper cup to spit it out," to which Lee Min-woo added, "So, whenever possible, I only drink alcohol."
While talking during their meal, Jung Eun-pyo asked Lee Min-woo, "You were active and then disappeared for a while. Was there a special reason?" Lee Min-woo replied, "As I entered my early 40s, I began to think, 'I'm like a castle built on sand.'" He added, "A person must grow step by step, but I haven't experienced that. I grew up in a world of adults, not with peers." He expressed, "I never had a moment to rest in life. Then I thought, 'I must be doing something wrong now. I think I've broken down hard,' and so I stopped. I stopped and did nothing," he concluded. In particular, when his colleagues admired his 'courage to stop,' he clarified, "It wasn't courage, it was burnout. They say when burnout hits, you let go of everything."
Finally, Kim Seung-soo recounted, "A mother who came to a fan signing event with her daughter told me, 'If only my daughter didn't have someone to marry, she's such a fan, it's so disappointing.' I replied, 'Thank you' and looked at her daughter, and for the first time in a while, I felt a bit (in my heart) sad," sharing an unfortunate tale of a connection that didn't flourish due to misunderstandings from a dating program. The MCs and actors encouraged him to send a video letter, and Kim Seung-soo stated, "They were a mother and daughter from Jeolla Province," and then confessed, "I couldn't say anything due to the situation. If she happens to see this show, I'm free now and would love to have a meal together," leaving viewers curious about whether his love story would continue.
