President Lee Jae-myung and Kim Hye-kyung enjoyed the film 'The Independence Army: The Unfinished War' (directed by Moon Seung-wook, narrated by Jo Jin-woong, produced by the Independence Army Production Committee, Hong Beom-do General Memorial Association, Blue Film Works, Jenny Film, supported by the National Liberation Association, distributed by Blue Film Works) with general audiences at the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul on the 17th. It is reported that Jo Jin-woong, who provided the narration for 'The Independence Army: The Unfinished War', also attended the event.
Earlier, President Lee Jae-myung noted through his official social media on the 16th, "Let us remember together the light we have rediscovered through the film 'The Independence Army'. He also stated, "If possible, I hope more people will honor and remember the proud history of the independence army. Tomorrow morning, I invite those who wish to watch the film with me. Due to limited seating, we must select attendees through a lottery. I kindly ask for your understanding that not everyone can join us. See you on Sunday."
'The Independence Army: The Unfinished War' is a documentary film focusing on the life of independence activist General Hong Beom-do and addresses the history of Korea's liberation war. This documentary work was produced by the National Liberation Association and the Hong Beom-do General Memorial Association to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, with actor Jo Jin-woong providing the narration.
Jo Jin-woong accompanied the domestic return of General Hong Beom-do's remains as a national special envoy in 2021. On the 15th, during Liberation Day, he also attended the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day ceremony held at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno, Seoul, where he recited the pledge of allegiance to the national flag.
