The documentary "I Am a Survivor" reached the top spot on Korean Netflix series just two days after its release.
According to the 'Today's Top 10 series in South Korea' on the 17th, the Netflix documentary "I Am a Survivor" secured the number one position, dethroning 'Esquire', 'Trigger', and others to claim its first top spot.
"I Am a Survivor" is the second story following "I Am God", released in 2023, documenting four horrific events that shocked Korea, and the voices of those who survived that day which must not be repeated. It covers four incidents from the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS) to the Brothers Home, the Ji Seon-pa, and the Sampoong Department Store, which are still ongoing and may lead to tragedies in the future.
Earlier, the production team of "I Am a Survivor" experienced conflicts with JMS ahead of its release.
On the 29th of last month, JMS filed a request for a broadcast ban against "I Am a Survivor" based on defamation by false facts. However, the production company MBC and Netflix rebutted this, stating that it was produced for public interest based on facts.
Following this, on August 14th, the Seoul Western District Court dismissed the request for a broadcast ban against "I Am a Survivor" filed by JMS and former members, allowing it to be released on the scheduled date.
Meanwhile, "I Am a Survivor" was opened to over 190 countries worldwide through Netflix on the 15th.
