Sugar asked her husband Lim Hyo-sung, who paid off her gambling debts, if he has a 'girlfriend,' and faced backlash amid growing controversy, ultimately deleting that part.
On the 15th, the YouTube channel 'Human That's Sugar' featured Sugar and Lim Hyo-sung, who addressed the divorce rumors directly.
That day, Sugar asked, 'The word couple is quite burdensome. Do you think we are a couple?' and Lim Hyo-sung gave a meaningful response: 'We have been married for 4 years and friends for 11 years. I'm a man.'
Sugar said, 'I really think of you as a friend, so there's no reason to fight,' and Lim Hyo-sung replied, 'Right. I try not to fight. Even if you keep bringing it up.'
In response, Sugar asked, 'Don't you have a nice girlfriend these days?' which surprised Lim Hyo-sung. He ultimately said, 'I think you're crazy. Are you psycho?' and Sugar remarked, 'Isn't it something I can ask? How great it is, in an American style.'
In a previous video, Lim Hyo-sung confessed that while he was living apart from Sugar, he received a call informing him of her debt. He said, 'After I retired from being an athlete, I wasn't making much money. I had never experienced anything like this before, but I got a call saying, 'The debt is 250 million won.' After thinking about it for a day, I borrowed 280 million won from friends and lent it to her.'
There were high expectations for Sugar and Lim Hyo-sung to clarify their past conflicts and divorce rumors on YouTube, but Sugar's sudden 'girlfriend' comment surprised everyone. It seems the YouTube channel team recognized this, as they deleted that part after it became a controversy.
Meanwhile, Sugar and Lim Hyo-sung married in April 2010 and have one son and two daughters.
