YG Entertainment (hereinafter YG) has successfully transitioned to dramatic profitability in the second quarter of this year, and the global activities of the group TREASURE are expected to further accelerate YG's growth in the second half of the year.
YG announced on the 8th that it recorded an operating profit of 8.4 billion won on a consolidated basis for the second quarter. This is a turnaround from an operating loss of 11 billion won in the same period last year, and it is a 'surprise performance' that exceeds the market expectation of 3.1 billion won by 170.9%. Revenue increased by 11.6% compared to the previous year to 100.4 billion won, and net profit successfully turned positive to 11.2 billion won.
A YG representative noted, "The global achievements of rookie artists, such as BABYMONSTER's world tour and TREASURE's America tour, have driven revenue. Even without album releases, sales from performances, digital content, and merchandise have risen evenly."
Among them, another key pillar responsible for YG's performance in the second half will undoubtedly be TREASURE. TREASURE will release their mini album 'LOVE PULSE' on September 1. True to the album name, this album will express the heartbeat of falling in love through music, and even the recently released visual teaser has raised fans' anticipation.
In a group visual released through YG's official social media, TREASURE maximized its hip charm in street fashion accented with black and red. Their charismatic gaze and deepened aura have garnered praise for being "more mature," focusing global fans' attention on their upcoming release.
Following the album release, TREASURE will target global fans with a large-scale world tour. They will begin the '2025-26 TREASURE TOUR [PULSE ON]' with three performances in Seoul at the KSPO DOME from October 10-12, followed by stops in 12 cities across Asia, including Japan, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Singapore.
YG expects to maintain its high growth trend in the second half of the year, coinciding with the global activities of TREASURE alongside BLACKPINK's stadium tour and BABYMONSTER's world tour. Industry insiders predict that "TREASURE's comeback and tour performance will be key variables in solidifying YG's performance rebound."
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is currently conducting a world tour, 'HELLO MONSTERS,' with 32 shows in 20 cities just one year after their debut, surpassing 1.6 million album sales and showcasing the momentum of a 'monster rookie.' With the addition of TREASURE's comeback and tour, YG is expected to demonstrate an even stronger presence in the global market in the second half of the year.
