In "Mary Kills People," Lee Bo-young activates a tense standoff as she undergoes an "emergency room pressure interrogation" by detective Lee Min-ki after returning at the risk of her life.
Currently airing on MBC's Friday and Saturday drama "Mary Kills People" (written by Lee Soo-ah, directed by Park Jun-woo), it is a suspense drama about a doctor who helps terminally ill patients die and a detective who tracks them down.
In the last broadcast of "Mary Kills People," a shocking scene unfolded where Woo So-jung (played by Lee Bo-young) became a hostage after succumbing to the threats of drug lord Koo Gwang-cheol (played by Baek Hyun-jin) and was abducted after being driven away in Koo Gwang-cheol's car.
In the 5th episode airing on the 16th, Lee Bo-young captures attention after returning from extreme threats, undergoing an interrogation by Lee Min-ki in a tense "emergency room standoff." In the scene, detective Ban Ji-hoon (played by Lee Min-ki) and the assistant detective (played by Tae Hang-ho) visit Woo So-jung who is receiving treatment in the emergency room. Dressed in a patient gown with gauze and band-aids on her neck, Woo So-jung reveals the severity of her injuries with a pale face that lacks color, yet Ban Ji-hoon persistently bombards her with questions.
Furthermore, as Woo So-jung sends a glare of anger in response to Ban Ji-hoon's suspicious interrogation, a tense atmosphere envelops the emergency room. The psychological battle between Woo So-jung and Ban Ji-hoon reaches a boiling point, raising questions about the outcome of the "emergency room pressure interrogation."
Moreover, the production team vividly captured the fierce showdown between detective Lee Min-ki, who pressures the suspect Woo So-jung, who must receive treatment, and the veteran detective. Lee Bo-young portrayed a woo So-jung who lacked even the strength to open her eyes. Lee Min-ki conveyed the fiery determination of detective Ban Ji-hoon, who burst out with questions of doubt, heating up the atmosphere on set. Particularly, the subtle changes in expressions and breathing between Lee Bo-young and Lee Min-ki maximized the tension of the scene, with Shim So-young and Tae Hang-ho appearing as characters supporting Lee Bo-young and Lee Min-ki, providing a rich visual experience.
The production team remarked, "Detective Lee Min-ki's intentional psychological pressure on Lee Bo-young, who sustains severe injuries, will enhance viewer immersion," adding, "Anticipate whether Lee Bo-young's secret, having voluntarily become a hostage, will be revealed due to Lee Min-ki in the 5th episode."
"Mary Kills People" will not air today (15th), which is Liberation Day, and the 5th episode will be broadcast at 10 p.m. on the 16th.
