A suspect in an explosive device installation threat that dampened the reunion of "Documentary 3 Days" and the youth after 10 years has been arrested.
The Andong Police Station announced that they arrested a boy known as A at his home in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, at around 2:25 p.m. on the 15th on charges of public threats.
A is accused of posting a false comment on the KBS documentary YouTube live broadcast chat at around 7:40 a.m. that day, stating, "I will blow up the old Andong Station square." The police identified A's location through tracking and arrested him while he was staying at home in cooperation with the Dongdaemun Police Station.
A has admitted to the crime, and the police plan to determine the motive behind the crime through further investigation.
The production team of KBS "Documentary 3 Days" recalled the 2015 broadcast through a post on their official SNS on the 8th, stating, "The promise of August 15, 2015, let's meet here on August 15, 2025. So we decided to leave for there."
At that time, the production team interviewed youth across the country who were on a train trip to Tomorrow and met two female college students at Andong Station around the last filming period. The two youths promised to travel again in 10 years and told the production team, "Please make the documentary. Even after 10 years." To this, the production team responded, "Will we still be doing this then?" and said, "Then let's meet here on August 15, 2025." Amid the spontaneous promise, this brief yet profound commitment was recalled in the public's memory after 10 years.
As the production team arrived at Andong Station, many people gathered to see if the promise made 10 years ago would be fulfilled. However, at around 7:37 a.m. that day, a message appeared in the YouTube live broadcast chat stating, "I will blow up the old Andong Station square," prompting the police to deploy local police stations, the initial response team from the Andong Police Station, and police special forces to control the scene and conduct searches. As a result, the live broadcast was suspended, and the gathered crowd was dispersed.
