Lee Hye-won, the wife of former soccer player Ahn Jung-hwan, revealed her son Lee Hwan's methods for studying English.
On the 14th, a video titled "Lee Hwan first solved a Korean English grammar problem? His accuracy is better than mom's..??" was uploaded to the 'Second Hye-won' channel.
That day, Lee Hye-won invited her son Lee Hwan to shoot the video together. She asked, "Is it true that Lee Hwan is good at managing his schedule and organizing his time and timetable for his own study?" and Lee Hwan replied, "That's right. Compared to my friends, I do manage my schedule and use a calendar on my own."
Lee Hye-won noted, "As a parent, I have a lot to learn from Lee Hwan's schedule management. Especially his method of gradually building up his studies in English, math, and other subjects seems effective. In fact, Lee Hwan is attending an international school, and I thought of inviting him as a guest to share with our subscribers, asking, 'What was the most challenging part of learning English?'"
In response, Lee Hwan stated, "I started studying English after going to Singapore, but back then, I didn't know English. However, the YouTube channel owner here threw me into Singapore. You could say it was like heading into unknown territory. Rather than learning English separately, I learned it while adapting with my friends in a foreign environment. If you can't communicate, you can't play. Since I had an environment where I could comfortably ask friends and teachers, I had a lot of exposure to English. I believe the environment is the most important. Honestly, while the environment was good, I wish I had an assigned teacher who could help me feel comfortable asking questions and solving problems together."
Lee Hye-won said, "In fact, at an international school, learning English was important, but so was sports and music, and they had diverse classes, so I believe Lee Hwan learned new English there, right?" Lee Hwan added, "To put it simply, using English is more about vocabulary, isn't it? Vocabulary is important, but honestly, my biggest regret is that I didn't thoroughly learn the concepts and structures of grammar and vocabulary when I was starting out. Because of that, even though I can speak some English now, I still make many mistakes. I think if I had learned those properly, I could do much better now."
Then, Lee Hye-won asked, "Are you trying to understand concepts better when learning English these days?" Lee Hwan replied, "I ask my teachers a lot of questions. I believe in tailored learning, so I ask many questions, and if I'm curious about something, I ask my friends without feeling shy. If you're curious, you should ask right away; I often forget to ask something I thought about saying, 'I should ask this' before going home. I think asking and getting answers right away helps build knowledge and study effectively."
Meanwhile, Lee Hye-won, a former Miss Korea, married soccer player Ahn Jung-hwan in 2001 and has a daughter, Lee Won, and a son, Lee Hwan. Notably, their daughter Lee Won is reported to be attending New York University, a prestigious university in the U.S., which has generated significant interest, and their son Lee Hwan also amazed people by performing at Carnegie Hall as the youngest trumpet player.
