The 'international singer' Psy made the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day even more meaningful.
On the evening of the 14th at 8:15 p.m., the '80th Anniversary of Liberation Day Eve – Korea Lives!' was held at the National Assembly's Central Lawn in Yeouido, Seoul, where Psy appeared as the finale performer. Wearing a green shirt and a light purple tie, he was warmly cheered by the audience. Psy announced the notice for a safe and enjoyable performance, saying, 'A performance where the audience's ability is more important than the singer's ability,' encouraging everyone to enjoy together.
Earlier, Tak Hyun-min, the event planning advisor to the National Assembly Speaker who was in charge of the Liberation Day Eve event, revealed through a radio broadcast, 'I called Psy for the first time in three years and asked him,' and added, 'I was worried that I might have put unnecessary pressure on him since he doesn't participate in any events during tours, so I texted him saying, 'You don't have to do it.'
He further noted, 'I was really grateful that he said he wouldn't even receive a guarantee fee,' and added, 'It's not a commercial event, and since it's not because of me that he is coming, I felt very sorry as the one who brought it up first.' National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik also expressed on social media, 'I greatly appreciate Mr. Psy's participation without a guarantee fee,' and wrote, 'I hope for many people's interest.'
In this regard, Psy humbly stated, 'It became a hot topic that I didn't receive a guarantee for today's performance, but that's wrong. I gave up my guarantee for special effects. This way, you can see a more luxurious performance,' and commemorated the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day with rich and exciting performances of 'Champion,' 'It's Art,' and 'Entertainer.'
Meanwhile, on that day, the pre-anniversary performance featured grants including Psy, Kang San-e, Gummy, Dynamic Duo, Mad Clown, Matey × Kim Hyung-seok, 10CM, VIVID, Ali, Crying Nut, Paul Kim, and others.
