Documentary 3 Days (hereinafter referred to as Documentary 3 Days) is a documentary that condenses 72 hours of observation by the production team into 50 minutes, conveying the vividness encountered during the quiet observation in a single space over a period of three days and the sincerity found in the coincidences. First broadcast in May 2007, Documentary 3 Days ended on March 13, 2022, due to the impact of COVID-19.
The Documentary 3 Days team, which long awaited to share news on their official social media, had a reason connected to the summer episode of 2015. At that time, the production team interviewed young people from across the country traveling by train, and near the end of filming, they met two female college students at Andong Station. The two youths promised to travel again in 10 years and told the production team, "Make sure to film a documentary. Even in 10 years."
The production team then said, "Will we still be doing this then?" and added, "Then let's meet here on August 15, 2025." A promise was made on the spot, and this short yet profound commitment resurfaced in the memories of the public over the course of 10 years.
As calls for the revival of Documentary 3 Days, which was discontinued in March 2022, increased, the romantic notion of a "reunion at Andong Station after 10 years" provided inspiration. In particular, with this meeting taking place, there was also hope that it would mark a new starting point for Documentary 3 Days.
Time passed, and on the 14th, the Documentary 3 Days production team shared on social media a photo upon their arrival at Andong Station, with the caption, "The Documentary 3 Days production team is here." The team, eagerly anticipating their reunion after 10 years, planned to share the event live on YouTube, and many gathered to witness this meeting.
However, the meeting could not be realized due to a sudden report of an explosive device. According to the Gyeongbuk Police Agency, at 7:37 a.m. that day, a message stating, "I will blow up an explosive at the old Andong Station Plaza," was posted in the YouTube live chat, prompting police to deploy a nearby police station, the Andong Police Department's initial response team, and police special forces to control and search the scene. Consequently, the live broadcast was interrupted, and the crowd that had gathered there dispersed.
The search resulted in no explosives being found. After about 2 hours and 50 minutes, the scene was secured, and police are reportedly tracking down the person who made the bomb threat. As it was revealed that the explosive report was false, the disappointment deepened. Notably, the Documentary 3 Days team had indicated through the live chat that "a female guest has arrived at the scene," signaling that one of the female college students had arrived at the meeting point, adding to the sense of regret.
Since the realization of the romance and the reunion after 10 years fell through, questions have arisen about whether the broadcast will air properly. Previously, KBS2 announced that a special episode of Documentary 3 Days – About Time was scheduled to air on the 22nd. Although the romance was not fulfilled, it remains to be seen whether it will signal a new beginning for Documentary 3 Days when it meets with viewers on the 22nd.
