To commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, the project group Today YA (TDYA) will officially debut today (14th).
Today YA will release its debut song 'Keep The Light' at 6 p.m. on various music streaming sites on the 14th.
'Keep The Light' is a song that expresses through music the dreams and challenges of our generation as we carry the light of liberation forward while paying tribute to the patriots and martyrs who upheld it during dark times. The impressive melody line unfolds over a powerful trap beat, and the powerful vocal performance, combined with lyrics that deliver a message spanning generations, leaves a strong impression.
Notably, this song was composed by Lee Jae (EJAE), the composer of the Netflix original 'K-pop Demon Hunters' OST 'Golden,' which recently topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and has gained worldwide popularity.
Additionally, the lyrics were written by Today YA's rapper Mirani, who authentically captured the meanings of liberation and honor, while the choreography and performance were planned by dancer Amy, expressing the spirit of liberation and noble values throughout the stage. In particular, all revenues from the song will be donated to the descendants of independence patriots, adding even deeper meaning.
Formed through the web entertainment show 'Today's Debut Group' on the YouTube channel Studio Welcome, Today YA is a project group consisting of popular creators Woojeong-ing, dancer Amy, rapper Mirani, and Hyunjin from LOONA, who have a combined subscriber count of 800,000. The name Today YA carries the meaning that 'today' exists because of the day of liberation, thus reflecting the intent of the program.
On the day following the song release, August 15th, on Liberation Day, Today YA will attend the National Sovereignty Festival '80 Years of Liberation, Building the Future with National Sovereignty' held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, where they will unveil the stage for their debut song 'Keep The Light.' The members remarked, "It is an honor to perform on such a significant day as Liberation Day," adding, "We hope our music serves as a strength to the independence patriots and inspires reflection on the meaning of liberation."
'Today's Debut Group' is a program jointly planned by Studio Welcome and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation. It follows the growth journey of four members who came together to reflect on the meanings of liberation and honor, leading to explosive responses from global fans.
In the recently aired 6th episode of 'Today's Debut Group,' broadcast on the 8th, Today YA revealed the significance behind the lyrics of their debut song 'Keep The Light,' eliciting yet another enthusiastic response. This episode featured guest performer Yoon Sang, who rearranged 'Arirang' to commemorate the 70th anniversary of liberation in 2015, praising Today YA's abilities and expressing unwavering support and accolades for the program's intent and meaning.
Thanks to the support of their senior, Today YA has completed the recording of 'Keep The Light,' and now, they are preparing for their first performance. The 7th episode, which captures the choreography practice process of Today YA, will be unveiled at 6 p.m. on Liberation Day, the 15th, reminding everyone of the spirit of the patriots who gathered solely for liberation, despite differences in background, generation, and region.
