In the broadcast of 'Radio Star', Chun Jung-myung demonstrated what is commonly referred to as 'a face like an actor, actions like a comedian.'
In the broadcast aired on the 13th, Chun Jung-myung conveyed updates about his life after a long time. He mentioned that he typically spends most of his days off at home, leading a quiet lifestyle. However, he gained significant popularity as a younger male lead in numerous romantic comedies until before his military service and also noted receiving continuous invitations from the 'Radio Star.'
Chun Jung-myung said, 'I consistently declined invitations from 'Radio Star.' I thought if I refused once or twice, they would stop coming, but they kept inviting me. It's been about 10 years.' He added, 'They reached out after I finished my military service. It's been 16 years,' and mentioned his reason for appearing, saying, 'Considering my last decision, Kim Gu-ra hasn't been harsh lately, so I decided to participate.'
Despite his appearance, Chun Jung-myung is dedicated to exercise. He enjoys activities such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, running, golf, cycling, and surfing. Chun Jung-myung shared, 'The one I've done the most consistently is Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I even obtained a black belt. I've been practicing for over 10 years now,' revealing his favorite exercise.
Kim Gu-ra asked, 'Heo Gyeong-hwan has a blue belt, right?' to gauge Chun Jung-myung's rank. Chun Jung-myung responded, 'I like sports, so I've tried everything, but Brazilian jiu-jitsu suited me best. I don't enjoy static exercises. I think intense sports that involve contact and strikes suit me.' He then remarked, 'In the entertainment industry, I'm the only one with a black label,' showcasing his exceptional skills.
However, there were circumstances behind his youthful appearance. Right after enlisting, the attention directed towards the actor who gained immense national popularity was overwhelming, especially since that was an era when the image seen on screen was everything.
Chun Jung-myung remarked, 'When I was a trainer, I became the 'devil trainer' because I said, 'You shouldn't call my name, Chun Jung-myung.' I wanted to increase my fans, but I ended up with more antis. The trainees wrote insults about me on the walls.' He continued, 'The trainees write letters every weekend. But I had no idea that the trainers were censoring the letters. One trainee wrote insults all over an A4 sheet. At that time, I had filmed many romantic comedies, so perhaps they felt a sense of betrayal because my younger male lead image was strong and different from when I was a trainer,' he said with a lighthearted laugh.
Despite this, Chun Jung-myung did not lose to colleagues who viewed him merely as young. He recounted, 'At the Army Day event, I was with the Air Force's Jo In-sung, Navy's Lee Jeong, and I was with the Army. During rehearsal, everyone realized I was younger than them. But as soon as Lee Jeong saw me, he dropped the formalities.'
In response, Kim Gu-ra commented, 'At that time, Jeong was being impulsive. Was Jeong of a higher rank?' trying to defend Lee Jeong. Chun Jung-myung clarified, 'In terms of rank, I was a sergeant, and I was older by one year. Lee Jeong thought he was more senior. So, when I mentioned that I was older than him, he said, 'Brother,'' neatly wrapping things up and making everyone surprised.
