Broadcaster Jang Young-ran shared her experience of being denied a sale at a luxury goods store.
On the 13th, a video titled "Jang Young-ran's first public reveal of luxury bags collected over 27 years of hard work (full of details, very funny)" was uploaded to the channel 'A-class Jang Young-ran.'
On this day, Jang Young-ran boasted about her luxury bag collection. While doing so, she said, "I brought two people I am still serving rather than competing with these individuals," and took out two Hermès bags.
She expressed her burden by saying, "I have an Hermès. It's not a Birkin. I can't buy a Birkin. I absolutely cannot win against these two Hermès. I really can't carry these. What should I do? I need to win, but just carrying these makes me sweat here."
Especially, Jang Young-ran revealed, "I really wanted to buy an Hermès, so when I went to the store, they said they couldn't give me one. They said, 'You haven't bought anything from Hermès,' and I was told, 'Sorry, but you need to buy some clothes or something to increase your points before you can buy one.'" The PD exclaimed, "That's ridiculous..." and Jang Young-ran also shared, "It's true. I was really surprised too."
The PD asked again, "I'm buying it with my own money?" and Jang Young-ran responded, "I asked, 'Please give me a bag,' and they said, 'We have no bags.' When I pointed out, 'They are all on display,' they said, 'This is just for display.' My husband and I were flabbergasted and they said I need to buy some clothes first to earn points before I can buy a bag. They said I could start with a Kelly bag. So we went, and my husband was really cool at that moment. I remember being so flustered but also excited to go there. Then he said coolly, 'Buy. Buy some clothes.' I asked, 'Honey, how do I buy clothes?' and he said, 'Buy. Buy some clothes. You can earn points.'" She revealed that she bought Hermès clothes thanks to her husband.
But she shared, "The funnier thing is that I still can't wear those Hermès clothes because I feel burdened by poverty. It feels like I'll just end up serving it if I buy expensive stuff. So those Hermès clothes are still sitting at home, unable to be worn."
Jang Young-ran said, "Later, a staff member started contacting me, perhaps because they felt sorry for me. I asked them to let me know if a Kelly bag becomes available, and they contacted me later. That was better than any acceptance letter. 'Ms. Young-ran, the Hermès Kelly bag has finally arrived,' they said. 'Please tell us the date when you can pick it up,' and I immediately set a date. On that day, I said, 'I'm here to pick up my bag,' and they let me in right away. They opened a room, and it was such a secretive space. When I sat down, the funnier thing was I didn't know if the bag was white, red, or black. I had no idea about the size either. I had to just take it as they handed it to me. I wondered if that was just me or if I hadn't asked about it."
She mentioned, "(The bag) was smaller than I expected. I couldn't control my expression. I wished it were bigger, but it turned out to be smaller. Plus, since it's white, they told me to be careful as it might stain if I wear it with jeans, as they can't be cleaned easily. I bought it thinking I would wear it with jeans. Then they insisted, 'Please wear it right now.' I replied, 'No, please wrap it nicely,' and they wrapped it carefully for me to take, and that's how it started. I wonder if I've even held it once since then." The current price of the bag was reported to be 20 million won, which surprised everyone.
Jang Young-ran recalled, "I remember going into that secret room at that time. I entered the first secret room. Then I did an open run again. I went, and there was a bag right there. I asked, 'This isn't for sale, is it? It's a display item, right?' They replied, 'Are you by any chance Ms. Jang Young-ran?' I had bought one bag. They said, 'No, you can actually buy it,' and claimed that I was really lucky today. It was fresh and new. From that moment, I really wanted it. Although the first attempt failed, the second one was successful, right? I feel like I could win in a competition with this one. Yet, still... It's been a year or so? I still haven't been able to wear it. Ultimately, this one didn't win against me, so I'm still serving these two. It's stressful."
