The actor Shin Seung-ho from the movie "Only God Knows Everything" revealed his thoughts on being exempted from military enlistment due to surgery for a torn ligament.
Shin Seung-ho conducted an interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 14th. At this meeting, he spoke with domestic reporters about the movie "Only God Knows Everything" (directed by Baek Seung-hwan, abbreviated as "Ongatno") and his recent activities.
"Only God Knows Everything" is a mystery thriller film in which Father Do-woon (Shin Seung-ho), who has been ordained, hears confessions related to the death of his missing mother and unravels hidden secrets amid the dilemma between revenge and faith. He plays the role of Do-woon, who investigates the secrets surrounding his mother's disappearance.
Before the work's release, Shin Seung-ho garnered attention as news of his military exemption became public. According to his agency, King Kong by Starship, Shin Seung-ho underwent surgery for a torn ligament in 2021 while managing personal schedules. As a result, he was given a judgment of exemption from military enlistment.
Having shown a strong image by playing military roles in the Netflix series "D.P." and the film "Omniscient Reader: The Prophet," the fact that Shin Seung-ho is exempt from military service could have been a burden as an actor. In relation to this, Shin Seung-ho noted, "It was impossible to not feel burdened about acting as a soldier. To be honest."
"Since there was an incident," Shin Seung-ho hesitated to speak, and after a while, he confessed, "It seems natural to feel disappointed."
He emphasized, "It is natural to go to the military. Anyone would think so," and added, "Of course, I feel disappointed and upset, and on the other hand, I also feel sorry. I am not trying to avoid answering sincerely, but I am contemplating what I should say."
"Only God Knows Everything" is set to open in theaters nationwide on the 22nd.
