'Walking On Thin Ice' raised the curtain on its tumultuous narrative by unveiling character posters featuring Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang, and Park Yong-woo.
The new KBS 2TV weekend mini-series 'Walking On Thin Ice' (directed by Song Hyun-wook, written by Jeon Young-shin, produced by Baram Pictures and Slingshot Studio), scheduled to air its first broadcast on September 20, tells the story of a desperate partnership that ensues when Kang Eun-soo, a parent wanting to protect her family, and Lee Kyung, a two-faced teacher, accidentally obtain a bag of drugs. 'Walking On Thin Ice' is drawing expectations as a well-made piece, perfectly embodying various genres of romance, thriller, and action, with director Song Hyun-wook's skillful handling and writer Jeon Young-shin's compelling narrative and realism.
In the drama, Lee Young-ae plays Kang Eun-soo, who leaps from an ordinary housewife into the world of taboo, while Kim Young-kwang takes on the role of Lee Kyung, a popular after-school art instructor by day but a concealed drug dealer by night. Park Yong-woo is passionately portraying Jang Tae-goo, the head of the drug investigation team relentlessly pursuing the drug trafficking organization 'Phantom.' The tight tension created by the interplay of the three characters with different desires and secrets, along with the subtle emotional performances of the three actors, is highly anticipated.
The character posters released today, on the 14th, depict Kang Eun-soo (played by Lee Young-ae), Lee Kyung (played by Kim Young-kwang), and Jang Tae-goo (played by Park Yong-woo) tangled in their precarious relationships, with the concept of a ray of hope seeping through the cold darkness. In particular, the moment of confrontation between light and darkness reveals the hidden desires of each character, amplifying viewers' curiosity.
Lee Young-ae expressed the desperation of Kang Eun-soo, who finds herself in a dire situation, with the tagline, 'Just this once, please turn a blind eye.' Her pleading gaze conveys the resolve of Eun-soo, who steps into the world of taboo to protect her family.
Meanwhile, Kim Young-kwang, with the line, 'Don't be curious about me,' and a meaningful sardonic expression, maximizes the allure of his veiled character. As Lee Kyung navigates between day and night, good and evil, viewers are left wondering about the secrets and backstory he holds.
Lastly, Park Yong-woo, exuding charisma merely through his gaze, conveys a warning with the words, 'How about you stay under my attention for the rest of your life?' while simultaneously expressing an unwavering determination to not miss his target. His exceptional instincts and coldness in tracking the distribution routes of the drug trafficking organization 'Phantom' are perfectly captured in the poster.
The production team noted, 'The newly released character posters intricately capture the situations each of Kang Eun-soo, Lee Kyung, and Jang Tae-goo find themselves in, alongside their relationships and emotions, along with the hidden desires underneath.' They added, 'We ask for your great anticipation for the active performances of Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang, and Park Yong-woo that will captivate viewers this fall.'
