(Following Interview 1) Actor Shin Seung-ho shared his thoughts on the movie 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet.'
Shin Seung-ho conducted an interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 14th. He met with local reporters to discuss his recent activities, including his role in the movie 'Only God Knows Everything' (directed by Baek Seung-hwan, abbreviated as 'OnGodNo').
'Only God Knows Everything' is a mystery thriller movie where Do-woon (Shin Seung-ho), a priest who has received his ordination, listens to confessions surrounding the death of his missing mother and uncovers hidden secrets amidst a dilemma between revenge and faith. He plays the role of Do-woon, who investigates the secrets surrounding his mother's disappearance.
Before this movie, Shin Seung-ho met audiences through the film 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' (directed by Kim Byeong-woo, abbreviated as 'OmniRead'). As 'OmniRead', based on the popular web novel and webtoon of the same name, continues to be screened, he is now meeting audiences again through 'OnGodNo.' Shin Seung-ho noted, "I am grateful to be working during a challenging time for the Korean film industry and am enjoying pleasant days."
Shin Seung-ho, who also performed passionately as Lee Hyun-seong in 'OmniRead', stated, "First of all, it's a work I am really grateful for. It has been and will continue to be important to me. I think a project of such large scale is both challenging and courageous. I am thankful just to be part of such a work."
He said, "Honestly, I am not satisfied with the score yet. Naturally," adding, "What matters to me is how passionately we film on set. It's crucial to convey the energy during filming. This work serves as a source of fuel, similar to putting gas in a car to go further in my future endeavors. Feeling alive is important, hence this project is empowering for me."
Regarding the unique virtues of the movie 'OmniRead', Shin Seung-ho humbly expressed, "Not only 'OmniRead' but I haven't watched every work based on webtoons and web novels. I intentionally have not. I don't really follow webtoons, even when I'm not acting, so I find it tough to distinguish the differences between the original work and the movie. I think the fact that a large intellectual property has been adapted into a live-action film is significant in itself."
He emphasized, "I believe the process of bringing a work to the silver screen is never an easy task. There are people like me who have not seen the original work or may not even know that there is one. Just look at my parents; they fall into the age group that doesn't follow webtoons. I think this choice might help those individuals to understand."
'Only God Knows Everything' is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on the 22nd.
