Actor and singer Seo Hong returned to the music scene in July with the release of her single album 'The Longing You Left Behind.'
Seo Hong made a glamorous debut on the KBS Music Stage last March with her first single 'Whisper to Me.' The emotional ballad 'The Longing You Left Behind' is her second release after a year and four months.
Seo Hong is an all-rounder with a slim figure of 171 cm, sophisticated visuals, and elegant performances on stage. Since childhood, she was known for her singing ability, turning any place she stood into a stage, but her first step was as an actress. Graduating from Chung-Ang University, she has acted in numerous dramas and on stage, while secretly holding onto her dream of becoming a singer, which she always vowed to achieve 'someday.'
In 2024, she ultimately fulfilled that dream. She announced her singing debut with the song 'Whisper to Me,' a track combining EDM dance rhythms and semi-trot sensibilities aimed at the younger generation. With a fresh combination of genres and stage performances, she quickly gained attention, but her activities were halted just six months later due to issues with her agency, leaving a sense of regret. However, a producer who recognized Seo Hong's talent and beautiful vocal tone suggested a new song, leading to the birth of 'The Longing You Left Behind,' which embodies a completely different musical charm.
This song features participation from a top domestic guitarist, enhancing its completeness. The delicate arpeggios and emotional riffs of the guitar blend with Seo Hong's distinctive deep vocals, adding a warm yet lonely atmosphere throughout the piece. Seo Hong explained the recording process, saying, 'I wanted to sing it like a scene from a movie. I poured my heart into each guitar melody.'
Currently, Seo Hong is in the process of 'standing alone.' It's not an easy path, but she is firmly determined, stating, 'No matter what difficulties come, I will never give up on my dream of music.' She noted, 'I gain great strength from the warm support and advice of my wonderful senior singers, and rather than being afraid, I am excited about the musical wilderness that I will pioneer.'
While her previous work 'Whisper to Me' sang of refreshing and lively love with EDM semi-trot, the new track 'The Longing You Left Behind' showcases Seo Hong's entirely different charm by expressing the deep aftertaste and mature emotions following a breakup. Even prior to its release, teaser videos generated reactions on social media and fan communities, with comments like 'Seo Hong's real ballad has come.'
Seo Hong expressed her thoughts, saying, 'This song was a special project that brought out new emotions within me. I want to sing songs that provide comfort and strength to many people.'
Alongside her new song activities, Seo Hong is planning and preparing various music broadcasts and solo concerts. Her movements as she works under the dual titles of actor and singer are attracting attention.
