According to TV Chosun on the 13th, Im Seong-han (Phoebe, 피비)'s new work, 'Doctor Shin,' has been included in the lineup for the first half of next year. 'Doctor Shin' is the writer's first attempt at a medical melodrama. Im Seong-han, who has primarily discovered fresh faces, is known to have selected all the main and supporting actors through auditions.
Im Seong-han has dominated the small screen with huge ratings from works such as '보고 또 보고' (Behold Again), '하늘이시여' (Oh My Sky), '인어 아가씨' (Mermaid Lady), and '신기생뎐' (My Lovely Kim Sam-soon). However, in addition to the title of star writer, he has been accompanied by the label 'drama queen.' The writer often crossed the line with extreme plot settings and controversies that undermined his own skills.
In SBS's '신기생뎐' (My Lovely Kim Sam-soon), the character Dan Gong-joo (played by Baek Ok-dam) put her grandson (played by Jeon Ji-hoo), who flaunts his six-pack abs, to shame by using his abs as a washboard. Although it was just a dream of Dan Gong-joo, it was absurd in itself. The biggest topic of this drama is the scene where the possessed Asura (played by Im Hyuk) shoots laser beams from his eyes, which is still referred to as a legendary meme.
In SBS's '하늘이시여' (Oh My Sky), Sophia (played by Lee Sook) died of a heart attack while laughing at a show. Meanwhile, in MBC's '압구정 백야' (Apgujeong Midnight), Jonathan (played by Kim Min-soo) also died after being suddenly attacked by gangsters for the sake of the romance between the male and female leads. In particular, a remarkable comment appeared in MBC's 'Aurora World,' which aired in 2013. In the drama, Seol Seol-hee (played by Seo Ha-jun) exclaimed, "Cancer cells are life too. After declaring a cessation from writing following '압구정 백야' (Apgujeong Midnight) in 2015, Im Seong-han cautiously returned in 2021. The work he produced is TV Chosun's weekend drama 'Marriage Lyrics Divorce Composition.' He changed his name to 'Phoebe' and has written until season 3. The show '아씨 두리안' (Durians Aunt) which aired in 2023, received mixed reviews for its portrayal of a lesbian relationship between a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law.
