'Star of Seoul' Jeong Eun-pyo revealed the reason for his participation in this play.
On the afternoon of 13th, a press call and press conference for the play 'Star of Seoul' was held at the Art House in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Attendees included actors Jeong Eun-pyo, Lee Mun-sik, Kim Myung-soo, Lee Dong-kyu, Jeong Ji-hwan, Joo Hee-jung, Lee Jung-yeon, Noh Seung-min, Lee Yeol, Dal Shabet's actor Hee, Taesaja Park Jun-seok, Seven Us Yoo Hee-jae, and Melody Day Ahn Ye-in.
'Star of Seoul' is set in a shabby rooftop room at the top of a mountain village in Seoul and tells the story of three people at the end of their lives, each illuminating a star in their own life through mutual understanding. This is the latest work from director Son Nam-mok, known for the plays 'Boeing Boeing', 'Scandal', and 'Musical Jesus', and the theme song 'Star of Seoul' was composed and written by Go Yo-sep, the husband of Jo Hye-ryeon. The main character, Woo-hee, also sings this theme song.
In the play, the locksmith character Kim Man-soo is triple cast with Lee Mun-sik, Jeong Eun-pyo, and Kim Myung-soo, while the gambler character Moon-ho, who seeks a quick score, is played by Park Jun-seok, Yoo Hee-jae, Jeong Ji-hwan, and Lee Dong-kyu. The role of the unnamed singer with a troubled past, Jo Mi-ryeong, will be portrayed by actor Hee, Ha Ji-young, and Ahn Ye-in. The multi-man roles will feature Joo Hee-jung, Lee Jung-yeon, Lee Yeol, and Noh Seung-min.
Jeong Eun-pyo said, "For reference, my wife said she would 'make sure I don't get a drop of water on my hands', so I got married to her. (laughs) And being on stage means a lot to me. When I was offered the grants to participate in this, they asked me what my hesitation was, and I said, 'Actually, the script is so good and I want to try it, but I'm scared. I'm not sure if I should do it.'" He added, "Then my wife looked at me silently and said one thing. 'Just say you want to see the play.'"
He continued, "But my wife, who is 12 years younger than me, told me in casual speech to 'just say you want to see it.' (laughs) I felt a bit bad, but that was the reason I decided to perform. I want to show it to many audiences, but on the first day, that person (my wife) is coming to see it, so I want to do well for her. She gives me strength but spoke in an imperative way, which made me feel a bit bad. (laughs) The biggest reason for my decision was because of her."
Meanwhile, the play 'Star of Seoul' will be performed from the 15th to October 26th at the Art House in Daehak-ro.
