Actor Chae Jong-hyeop was supposed to appear in the film 'Turtle,' and conflicts arose as the production company and the actor exchanged notices of termination of the contract.
On the 13th, Chae Jong-hyeop's agency, Blitzway, stated to OSEN, "The film 'Turtle' had the detailed shooting schedule specified in the contract, and Chae Jong-hyeop was scheduled to complete filming within that period and then start filming for a drama. However, due to circumstances at the production company, the filming schedule elapsed without any prior consultation or agreement among the actor, drama production company, and broadcasting channel regarding the schedule change."
They added, "We proposed to continue filming for the movie after the drama shooting concluded, but we could not reach an agreement, and unfortunately, we sent notice of contract termination," and noted, "We still hope for amicable negotiations as a priority, but if coordination is not achieved, we will proceed with legal procedures according to the contract and related laws."
Earlier, according to a report from a media outlet, Chae Jong-hyeop signed a contract to appear in the film 'Turtle' with the production company Popcorn Film last April, but the shooting initially scheduled for May was delayed due to the production company's circumstances. After a recent script reading, with the first shoot set for the 16th, Chae Jong-hyeop's side notified the termination of the contract through a notice.
In connection with this, Chae Jong-hyeop's side stated, "Despite all scheduled shooting periods having elapsed, filming has not commenced, making contract fulfillment impossible," claiming the production company's default of debt.
On the other hand, the production company Popcorn Film countered, "The shooting period (May to July) is merely a detailed schedule plan and can be changed through negotiation if unavoidable circumstances arise," and also claimed, "Chae Jong-hyeop has diligently participated in the preparation process, such as script rehearsal and practice before filming, which is tantamount to agreeing to the schedule change."
Additionally, Popcorn Film stated that in August, Chae Jong-hyeop's side did not participate in martial arts practice and costume fittings, making the first shoot impossible, and they noted, "If a satisfactory resolution is not achieved, we will take legal action, including claims for damages."
