Singer-songwriter Lee Seung Yoon is going to release a surprise single.
Lee Seung Yoon will release the digital single 'Punkanon' today at 6 p.m. on various music streaming sites. The single contains two tracks: the title song 'Punkanon' and 'PunKanon (Extended Ver.),' which is a longer version of the original song.
'Punkanon' is a portmanteau of 'Punk' and 'Canon,' and it is an arrangement of 'Canon,' a track included in Lee Seung Yoon's third studio album 'Reversal,' released last October, in a punk style. Joint producers Jo Hee Won, who composed and arranged all the tracks on the third studio album 'Reversal,' along with guitarist Lee Jeong Won and drummer Ji Yong Hee, also participated in the arrangement work for this single.
Earlier, Lee Seung Yoon first revealed part of 'Punkanon' through the '1day1canon' Instagram account, where he only posted practice videos of 'Canon' last September. Fans have been flooding requests for the official release of the song, remarking, "I keep coming back because I want to hear it again."
Additionally, Lee Seung Yoon debuted the full performance of 'Punkanon' at the club gig '2025 LEE SEUNG YOON CLUB GIG 'POKZOOTIME'' in July, and subsequently at the European music festival 'Colours of Ostrava 2025' and Korea's representative festival '2025 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival,' receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience. At 'POKZOOTIME,' he chose 'PunKanon (Extended Ver.)' to offer a different charm.
In particular, as 'Punkanon' is set to be released in time for the summer festival season, it is expected to be added to the setlists of the various stages Lee Seung Yoon will perform on in the future. Among these, Lee Seung Yoon surprised fans by releasing a teaser for 'Punkanon' through his official social media channel on the 11th, in which a scene reminiscent of a music video was inserted, raising fans' curiosity. Fans expressed their excitement with comments like, "Lee Seung Yoon magic, where everything I wish comes true," "Surprising that 'Punkanon' is coming as a digital release," and "Gifts are pouring down."
