Singer Hwang Chan-hee reported on his current situation of becoming a shaman.
On the 13th, singer Hwang Chan-hee appeared as the first participant on KBS 1TV's 'Morning Yard - Challenge! Dream Stage'.
On this day, Hwang Chan-hee said, "I gathered the courage to stand on this stage today. I have dreamed of being a singer since I was young. I won first place in a radio song contest in middle school. Also, at 20, I received a bronze medal at the Gunsan Cherry Blossom Festival and gradually began to gain recognition for my dream of becoming a singer."
He continued, "However, the story I am about to tell is something I am revealing for the first time today," adding, "In fact, I am currently a shaman serving a deity. I ride a sword and perform rituals. When I was about 20 years old and starting my career as a singer, I began experiencing New Recruit. At that time, I left home and lived disconnected from my family for 10 years."
He shared, "Then, after 10 years, I returned to my hometown. I got married, had a lovely son and daughter, and lived well. However, I experienced New Recruit again. My father had a myocardial infarction and a stroke. My daughter started speaking nonsense and was very sick. My mother was also ill, and a series of misfortunes followed. Eventually, I accepted the deity."
Hwang Chan-hee stated, "After having served the deity for about 7 years, a passion ignited deep within my heart. I wanted to sing so much. Therefore, I joined a workplace rock band and began singing. I participated in many national music competitions and received numerous awards. Now, I am active as a singer in the Gunsan Citizens' Art Troupe. However, there has always been the saying that shamans cannot have two professions. I struggled a lot with this."
He added, "However, times have changed, and seeing the child actor who became a shaman, Lee Geon-joo, singing on a certain broadcast gave me courage." He continued, "In fact, everyone performing music with me on the same stage has no idea that I am a shaman. But through this stage, from today, I want to proudly announce that I am a shaman and boldly sing. Please support me," continuing with a passionate performance that caught attention.
