Singer Psy will take the stage for the '80th Liberation Day Eve Festival – Korea Lives!' without grants.
Taek Hyun-min, the chief director of the Liberation Day Eve Festival, stated on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong's Matchless Battle' on the 12th, 'I called Psy for the first time in three years to make a request,' adding, 'Since he doesn't participate in any events while on tour, I thought I might have unnecessarily burdened him, so I sent a message saying, 'You don't have to do it.'
However, Psy immediately called back and said, 'If you say that, I can't possibly not do it.' Taek added, 'He also said he wouldn't accept any guarantees, which I was truly grateful for,' noting, 'It's not a commercial event, and it's not something I'm involved in, so as someone who brought it up first, I felt a lot of regret.'
In response, National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik also expressed gratitude through social media. He wrote, 'I'm very thankful for Psy's no-guarantee participation,' adding, 'I hope the public shows a lot of interest.'
The Liberation Day Eve Festival will take place at 8:15 p.m. on the 14th at the National Assembly Central Lawn in Yeouido, Seoul. Along with Psy, performers will include Kang San-e, Spider, Dynamic Duo, Mad Clown, Mateery × Kim Hyung-seok, 10CM, Bibiji, Ali, Crying Nut, and Paul Kim, with Psy expected to close the event.
Meanwhile, Psy also participated without grants in the National Defense Day 70th Anniversary event planned by Taek in 2018.
