Broadcaster Lim Seong-hoon expressed his feelings about leaving "In an Instant, Such Things Happen in the World."
Lim Seong-hoon hosted SBS's "In an Instant, Such Things Happen in the World" for 26 years before stepping down.
When Yoo Jae-suk asked, "What was it like during the final recording?" Lim Seong-hoon recalled, "I was saying, 'I will give my last greeting,' but I got caught up in my own words."
Yoo Jae-suk then asked, "How was the week after the final recording?" To this, Lim Seong-hoon responded, "Yes, I was most afraid of that next recording. I wondered how empty I would feel the following week."
He continued, "So now it's..." but could not finish his sentence. He also said, "I don't cry while broadcasting," but showed signs of struggling to hold back tears.
Since its first broadcast in May 1998, the long-running program "In an Instant, Such Things Happen in the World" (hereinafter referred to as "Such Things Happen in the World") has successfully covered interesting, surprising, entertaining, and touching stories occurring around us using a 6mm digital camera, conveying them with unique composition and narration.
However, rumors of cancellation emerged in January last year. At that time, the director of "Such Things Happen in the World" received a cancellation notice from the broadcasting company, and some grants also heard the news. In response to the sudden cancellation notice, the directors of the current affairs and cultural department strongly opposed, and Lim Seong-hoon, who has faithfully led the program as an MC without a single tardiness since 1998, told OSEN, "I conveyed my intention to reconsider the cancellation to the current affairs and cultural department and the programming side of the broadcasting company."
Thanks to the efforts of the production team and Lim Seong-hoon, the cancellation of "Such Things Happen in the World" was averted, and in line with the program's 26th anniversary, they entered a hiatus starting May 25, not as a cancellation but to secure new competitiveness. The production team decided to take three months for restructuring and chose to replace the MC. As a result, Lim Seong-hoon and Park So-hyun, who had led the program for 26 years, stepped down, and Jun Hyun-moo was selected as the sole MC to steer the program.
