On the 14th, the MBC program "Save Me! Homes" (directed by Jeong Da-hee, Nam Yu-jung, Kim Wan-cheol, Heo Ja-yoon, Kim Seong-nyeon, hereafter referred to as "Homes") will look back on the broadcasting life of Kim Suk, who is celebrating her 30th anniversary, and will embark on a live viewing.
The broadcast on that day will be a special program commemorating the 30th anniversary of Team Leader Kim Suk, reflecting on her tumultuous 30 years in broadcasting and her challenging life in Seoul. Kim Suk, who debuted as a comedian in KBS's 12th open recruitment in 1995, noted, "It has been 30 years since I left Busan," adding, "Today, I will follow the house listed on my resident registration and focus on live viewings of the houses I have lived in."
Joining Kim Suk as a viewing mate is her close friend in the entertainment industry, actress Jang Hye-jin. Appearing in the studio, Jang Hye-jin introduces herself by saying, "I am Jang Hye-jin, a 30-year friend of Suk," and presents memorable lines from her past works, including "Parasite," "Crash Landing on You," and "When Life Gives You Tangerines," earning applause from the coordinators.
Jang Hye-jin introduces her close friend Kim Suk as a friend who gives realistic advice to those unfamiliar with life in the entertainment industry, and shares a story about receiving assistance from Kim Suk when she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival with the film "Parasite." She recalls, "At the time, I was unknown, and it was difficult to get a dress sponsorship. Kim Suk took me to a friend's editing shop to help me pick out clothes. I was able to safely attend the Cannes Film Festival wearing the clothes I selected there."
In response to the question about the bond between the two, Kim Suk reveals, "We met during my senior year of high school at the largest acting academy in Busan. Hye-jin was the top performer among 30 to 40 students. She was the only one among us to get into the Korea National University of Arts."
In response, Park Na-rae surprises everyone by confessing that she also took the entrance exam for the Korea National University of Arts in the past. She shares, "On the last day of application submission, while taking a taxi to the school, the roads were blocked due to civil defense training. I dramatically submitted my documents just a minute before the deadline, but ultimately, I failed."
This episode, "Kim Suk's Tumultuous 30-Year Viewing," features Kim Suk, Jang Hye-jin, and Joo Woo-jae. The three head to Dangsan-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu, where Kim Suk first found her home in Seoul. Kim Suk states, "I found a semi-basement 10 minutes away by car from Yeouido. Since I could run to the broadcasting station whenever they called, most rookie comedians lived around this area."
Kim Suk also shares a humorous yet sad story from her time living in the semi-basement, mentioning that in the past the Han River flooded in Dangsan-dong, and during the rainy season, she couldn't sleep at night and listened to the radio all night.
