Actor Ma Dong-seok has become a human tiger.
On the 12th, the team of KBS 2TV's new Saturday-Sunday mini-series 'Twelve' (directed by Kang Dae-kyu and Han Yoon-seon) unveiled character posters and still cuts of the character Taesan (Ma Dong-seok), the leader of the 12 angels.
The series 'Twelve,' inspired by the 12 zodiac signs of Tongyang, depicts 12 angels living in human form to protect humanity as they combat a force of evil.
Ma Dong-seok, the box office star who drew the first triple ten million moviegoers in Korean cinema with the 'Crime City' series and is known as 'Ma Dong-seok equals genre,' will take on the role of a 12 zodiac hero and deliver a refreshing blow to the last summer heat. Taking on the role of Taesan, an angel endowed with the power of a tiger and the leader of the 12 angels, Ma Dong-seok expressed joy in showcasing a uniquely Korean worldview inspired by 12 zodiac mythology, saying, "I had a thirst to create a hero story that embodies a Tongyang aesthetic."
Taesan is a character who quietly lives in the human world, harboring the pain of having lost comrades who were like family in battles against evil forces long ago, possessing deep feelings of loss and a sense of responsibility beneath a strong exterior. While Ma Dong-seok is the leader of powerful angels, he intricately expresses Taesan's inner conflict between immense wounds and a sense of justice to protect the human world, drawing viewers in even more.
To maximize the overwhelming presence and identity of Taesan, Ma Dong-seok proposed various action ideas, ranging from his walking style and leopard-patterned costume to heavy yet agile fist actions that can be likened to a tiger's front paws, applying them in the actual filming. He focused on creating realistic and impactful action to convincingly convey Taesan's superhuman strength, while the flames accompanying his fists will visually deliver a thrilling catharsis. Ma Dong-seok stated, "I respect the individuality and abilities of each angel and focus on drawing out their potential to fight together," expressing his affection and trust toward the angels, raising expectations for his leadership and diverse chemistry in the work.
The character posters and stills reveal Taesan's iconic identity and his noble aura that can firmly stand against the immense threat of evil. The poster is filled with dynamic tiger fur that engraves the Chinese character 'in (寅)' behind the postured Ma Dong-seok in battle, properly imprinting the symbol of powerful and invincible strength. The spectacular clash between the angels led by Taesan, who has become a tiger himself, and the forces of evil is expected to heat up everyone's hearts this summer.
'Twelve' will make its premiere on Saturday, the 23rd, at 9:20 p.m. on KBS 2TV's Saturday-Sunday mini-series, and will be available to viewers worldwide through Disney+ right after airing.
