On the 12th, Guseong-hwan posted a video titled 'After the broadcast, many people sent me DMs asking why I was doing the rooftop work and wallpapering instead of the landlord?! I'll explain everything now. This is my first and last answer' on his YouTube channel.
The released video depicts Guseong-hwan filming on the rooftop of the building he lives in late at night as he explains about the gift of the villa.
He said, "About three days after the 'Home Alone' broadcast aired, many people pressed me via Instagram DMs and YouTube comments. They asked in the comments, 'Why don't you let the landlord handle the rooftop epoxy, why are you doing it?' 'Why aren't you letting the landlord wallpaper it?' This has become a controversy every time the broadcast airs, regarding the landlord, property owner, and how many buildings I own, so I'm stating that I'm not going to talk about this anymore in this video, which is my first and last time."
Regarding the villa he lives in, Guseong-hwan explained, "The part of this building is indeed my father's building. And I will receive a gift of the opposite side sometime around 2021 or 2022. Of course, I've paid all the gift taxes. However, it felt a bit awkward to talk about my personal stories on air, and I thought it wouldn't escalate like this."
He continued, "My father is a national merit holder who underwent gamma treatment for his brain. After receiving brain treatment, he experienced sudden onset dementia. So, the fact is that my father gifted me half of a multi-family building." He added, "Consequently, I need to manage the rooftop, and since my father's health isn't great, that's all there is to say."
Regarding claims that he pretended to be poor, he emphasized, "What I find most ridiculous is that I've never pretended to be poor in any broadcast. Why would I need to pretend? I live happily, using what I need and eating while filming, and I've never once pretended to be poor." He also stressed, "In reality, the area is 18 pyeong, and when including outside, it's about 20 pyeong; that's the fact."
He noted, "However, because of this controversy, many people are asking in the comments why I pretended otherwise. It's not that I pretended; I just thought there was no need to talk about it, but as the situation continued to escalate, I felt I needed to say something today." He added, "The house where I was born was built with the money my father earned throughout his life. We converted our family home into a villa. I've said all that; I would appreciate it if you understood that I won't be discussing this any further."
Lastly, he said, "I pay my father the monthly rent at the end of each month. The gift was received in advance because my father is unwell, but I always pay my rent on time." He added, "Because of my vague explanations, misunderstandings grew, and I'm sorry about that. However, it wasn't intentional, and discussing my personal life is a bit embarrassing for me. Meanwhile, Guseong-hwan confessed to water leakage damage due to the recent heavy rain on MBC's 'Home Alone' broadcast on the 8th, revealing footage of himself confirming the leaks on the rooftop and doing the waterproofing and wallpapering work himself.
