Jung Eun-hye's mother said, "I was 26 when Eun-hye was born. It was the first time I saw a person with a disability. How bewildering it must have been. In the 1990s, the social atmosphere was such that people with disabilities did not come out into society. Because I was seeing a Down syndrome baby in my arms for the first time, it was a feeling that went beyond bewilderment; it felt like life was falling into a chasm. I spent a lot of time crying."
The mother added, "As I was crying, I thought, 'Why am I always this sad?' and looked back at myself. Baby Eun-hye was sleeping well, and my body was healthy. The reason I was sad was the gaze of other people."
The mother stated, "I think I went everywhere. I loved Eun-hye so much," and noted that she lived diligently as a single mom at the time.
At that time, Jung Eun-hye's current husband appeared before her mother. Thus, Jung Eun-hye's mother remarried. Jung Eun-hye's father recalled, "When I first met her, I saw an aura. She looked noble. It was very sexy to see her making her daughter with Down syndrome not an embarrassing existence but a proud one."
