Former rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae suffered from her channel being deleted and then restored due to an error in YouTube's algorithm.
On the 12th, as a result of OSEN's coverage, the incident of Son Yeon-jae's YouTube channel being deleted and then restored was revealed to be due to a mistake in YouTube's algorithm.
On the 11th, reports emerged that Son Yeon-jae's personal YouTube channel was closed with a status of 'access denied.' Subsequently, there was even a notice of channel deletion for violating community guidelines. Fortunately, following an appeal by the production team, it was confirmed that this was an error by YouTube, that there were no violations of the guidelines, and the channel was restored with an apology.
However, suspicions remain. Some have raised the question that the video titled 'Essential video before childbirth! Revealing Son Yeon-jae's must-have parenting items,' which was posted on the 4th, could have led to reports by anti internet users. In fact, there had been a debate over this post regarding the perception of relative deprivation and whether it was merely a delivery of parenting item information.
In relation to this, a representative from Son Yeon-jae's agency, The Seed Company, noted to OSEN that "the deletion and restoration of Son Yeon-jae's YouTube channel was indeed a mistake caused by YouTube's algorithm and not a violation of guidelines." Son Yeon-jae's side explained, "Upon hearing the news of the channel's deletion, the production team immediately inquired with YouTube and filed an appeal. As a result, it was confirmed that there were no violations of community guidelines, and they received a response with an apology indicating it was an error from YouTube's algorithm. Currently, the channel has been fully restored."
In fact, recently on YouTube, there have been instances where some channels were deleted and then restored. According to Google's homepage, YouTube's community guidelines regulate items such as harassment and cyberbullying, harmful or dangerous content, hate speech, violent or explicit content, and misinformation. Therefore, it is presumed that if the algorithm identifies that there is a concern, the channel is deleted without prior notice or correction processes and is restored through an appeal.
Son Yeon-jae married a financier nine years her senior in August 2022 and gave birth to a son in February last year. She has been attracting attention by sharing her recent updates through her personal YouTube channel.
