The Netflix series You and Everything Else has confirmed its release date for Sept. 12 (Fri) and has unveiled a teaser poster and teaser trailer.
The meeting of Kim Goeun and Park Jihyun, along with the collaboration of director Jo Youngmin of Do You Like Brahms? and Understanding Love, raises expectations for the Netflix series You and Everything Else, which will meet global viewers on Sept. 12 (Fri). You and Everything Else is a story that faces every moment of two friends, Eunjoong and Sangyeon, who love, admire, envy, and hate each other throughout their lives.
First, the unveiled teaser poster, with the caption "Between longing and resentment," stimulates curiosity about the relationship between Eunjoong (Kim Goeun) and Sangyeon (Park Jihyun), who have shared countless emotions over a long time. The image of Eunjoong and Sangyeon standing in front of blurred photos of each other leaves a question about how they will remain as friends in each other's lives as they have constantly brushed past each other from their teens to their 40s and what kind of stories will resonate with viewers.
The trailer, released simultaneously, begins by showing the conflict between Sangyeon, who hurls harsh words at Eunjoong, and Eunjoong, who retorts with resentful words towards Sangyeon. Following this, the portrayal of the two individuals, who have spent a long time together since childhood and experienced two breakups, eventually drifting apart, raises curiosity about the stories of those standing between resentment and longing.
"When Sangyeon is next to me, everything I have feels ordinary and insignificant," says Eunjoong, while Sangyeon states, "It was then I sensed that I could never win against this child forever." The story of two friends, who have exchanged countless emotions while sometimes feeling admiration and sometimes inferiority to each other, presents feelings that anyone has likely experienced with a friend, drawing empathy.
"I want to know Sangyeon's true feelings, even just once," Eunjoong's line reflects the emotions of the other person that were closest yet never deeply understood, showing the misunderstandings and situations that caused the two to drift apart, heightening curiosity about what kind of conclusion the friendship between Eunjoong and Sangyeon will face.
In response, director Jo Youngmin, who oversees the production, noted about the work, "I thought 'companionship' is the color of this piece. Following the lives of Eunjoong and Sangyeon, you might encounter your past self, remember a friend, and think about your life or the lives of those around you. I believe it might lead to understanding, forgiving someone, and getting to know myself," thereby increasing anticipation for the special companionship that the two friends will showcase.
You and Everything Else, expected to draw attention with the delicate and relatable performances of Kim Goeun and Park Jihyun that portray the diverse emotions exchanged over a long period between Eunjoong and Sangyeon, will be released exclusively on Netflix on Sept. 12 (Fri).
